This is probably a dumb question, but here goes:
I finally decided to upgrade to AIM 7.5 yesterday. It seems that it’s a lot harder to view profiles in AIM 7.5, compared to version 5.x. In the earlier versions, all I have to do is click the “Buddy info” button, but in 7.5, it seems that I have to open the user’s “Lifestream” (on which the profile is located) in a new window. Are there any less awkward ways to view someone’s profile?
Thanks.
I just upgraded to 7.5 myself, and unfortunately it looks like that is the only way to view profiles in this version. I agree this is not ideal. I would like to exclude my browser from the equation; that’s the reason I downloaded a full client in the first place! Alas, it seems that AIM is pushing Lifestream at the expense of people who want nothing to do with it.
As an alternative, you can view buddy icons and status messages within the buddy list via the Options>View menu. Also, you can activate a “buddy details” flyout via Options>Settings>Buddy List>”Show buddy details on rollover in Buddy List”. These may give you everything you want to know about your buddies without using a browser.
does aim 7.x even have option to edit your buddy information? i used it for a very small amount of time and i don’t recall seeing a way to edit your information.
