MemberI was wondering if this was something new, or if there’s a problem with my computer. Whenever I try to check more then a certain amount of away messages in a row, (as I do when i get bored) I get this error:
“You cannot get member infor of (buddy’s name) due to rate limiting; try again in another minute”
Is this something new? Becuase it’s kind of annoying…

Nope that isnt something new. I did the same thing a few months ago on aim 5.5 I kept hitting ‘get info’ of one of my buddies about 50 times or so (I actually lost count) and I got an error message similar to that. It wouldnt let me check anyone elses aim profile or away message for a few minutes. :woot:

MemberRate-limiting when checking profiles used to be version-specific (controlled by the client) and was only present in older versions, but they’ve changed that to be server-side sometime between September 2005 and now; now it applies to all versions of AIM. I’ve been away from the computer during that time, so I’m unable to tell you when it happened.

Memberthis is happening to me like crazy and it’s really getting annoying. i can’t look at more than a few away messages in a row before it tells me i hit the rate limit. any help would be greatly appreciated as i am getting quite frustrated.

MemberI can’t think of anything that would cause that unless you’ve been warned.
