Participantyou may want to check your cookie/temporary internet file settings, perhaps it’s clearing your cookies too often (although i’ve never heard of it resetting every page)
what browser (and what version) are you using?

MemberNo, I did check cookies and I’m accepting everything. Oddly enough…as soon as I posted this problem it disappeared. So I am ok now but still wondering what was wrong. Thanks for the help though. I’ll just hope it was some glitch.

Fancy, glad to see your problem disappeared and if it ever happens again feel free to post here again and we’ll try to find a better solution.

MemberActually, I wonder if this is a derivative of the bigger problem some of us are having here (or at least I am). It seems that if I close my browser and open it again (by the way, I’m always logged in to BBB, session saved), and I navigate to BBB, it shows me as a guest (with that ugly ad at the top, yuck). But as soon as I click a link to go into a forum, it logs me in. This isn’t a problem, per-se, but rather an annoyance, because it forces me to click a sub-forum, then click back home again, whereas I used to just be able to open BBB and be logged in.
This only happens on my computer here, I’m running Maxthon (don’t start a browser war pelase, I’m very content with Maxthon), and it’s not my internet, either, because this doesn’t happen on my laptop which I frequently use at home, as well.
Any ideas?

MemberSpike,
I wasnt going to say anythin because I felt incredibly stupid…but I think my problem might also have been related to leaving the active window and traveling around BBB where I became a ‘guest’. I maybe need to use the ‘back’ button whenever I follow a link even within BBB? This is happening to me inside and outside of Maxthon (which I also use and enjoy). I tried logging in with various browsers and I’m thinking its a setting or something, I havent encountered this kind of problem anywhere else so I’m still checking it out. Thanks for the input!March 11, 2006 at 7:43 pm #139883Jeff Hester
KeymasterHmmm… this is curious. I haven’t experienced the problem myself, and I regularly browse the site in both Firefox and Internet Explorer.
The way it’s supposed to work is like this:
If you sign-in and check the “remember me” box, you should be always logged in whenever you visit the site, regardless of how long or where you travel. Note that this is cookie-based, so it only applies to the specific browser and computer you’re using when you first sign-in. And if you delete your cookies — *poof* — you’re no longer logged in.
If you sign-in but do NOT check the “remember me” box, then your session will automatically sign you out after one hour of inactivity. Even if you leave the website and come back, as long as it’s within that one hour, you should still be signed in.
That’s how it’s supposed to work, but obviously some people are experiencing other weirdness. Maybe you can help me nail down what the problem is?

MemberThanks, Jeff. I’m really unsure about what the problem is, it’s very strange. There must be something about navigating to a page other than the homepage (/forums/index.php) that catches my cookie and tells vBulletin to log me in. I don’t have this problem on other vBulletin sites, and as I said earlier, I don’t have this problem on other computers on my network here. I’ll look into some of the Maxthon settings in a bit and see if I can find anything.
