Alright well I got my expression working, but I’m trying to replace the ad on top. Whenever I sign on, it goes to ad the insant I sign on. I’ve tried using HexWorks to change the code, I’ve tried removing the advert.ocm, but that gets rid of the entire thing instead of displaying my picture. I’m not looking to get rid of the Ad area, but replace it with my image. Is this possible in AIM 5.2 beta?
Not that I know of. Even if you did find a way (there probably is a way) it would replace it for you, but not anyone else who installs your expression.
Actually if you sign up with AIM Expressions http://expressions.aol.com then the ad is replaced with your expression’s ad image. However it isn’t a free service for non-aol screen names so, AOL is going to make money one way or another either displaying an Ad of their choosing or getting you to pay for their Expression service.
how did you manage to get rid of the ad in this version of aim? i also tried hexworks and deleting advert.ocm .. but the ads still show. did you manage to get rid of the ads? please respond. thanks.
actually cleared up the problem myself.
get cool aim skins and remove the ads …
http://www.aimutation.comit tells you how on the site now. just click download, and choose the option “open” once you do, they will be in the MY AIM menu under AIM MUTATION > CHANGE SKIN. some skins dont work for certain versions of Aimutation … so you’ll have to test them. hope that helps.
To stop AIM ads WITHOUT an add-on and WITHOUT reshacker… DELETE the advrt.ocm file and rename the similar named file to advert.ocm and *poof.. no ads, no add-on, and no res hacking 😀

that doesnt work for aim 4.7 and higher though.
i and many others have tried.unless .. you have aim 5.2 and it worked for you?
