MemberIs it possible to have a status message change automatically? I saw someone once whos message rotated between 3 different messages so consistantly and for so long that it could not have been someone changing it manually. Anyone know how this was done?
Thanx, Bill

MemberYup. I’ve created several programs that let you do that, what they do is edit the registry (where the actual statuses are saved) and change them quickly which in return allows your status to change quickly.
I’ve created a program called “Kool Status 3”, Y!Amp M6 (Shows what you’re listening to in your status) and a few others that do that. If you’re interested in any of them just go to my site :p

MemberHello EliteNick.. I went through your website & your “Kool Status 3” is really kewl… but do you have a registry setting by which I can fake the blue IDLE icon in my status.. I mean in 5.6 I used to change the number from 0 – 2 or something & I used to get that blue colored idle icon on my status.. but the same thing is not working in 6.0.. is there any way for that ?

KeymasterWhy do people want to set a ” fake idle” status?

ParticipantA good reason to fake idle would be as an alternative to invisible mode for those annoying people with the online status checkers…

Memberamy has a good point.. it would be a good aturnative maybe nick or sakred or vb might know of a way round it because the 2 does not work in registry as it does on 5.6 messenger.

Memberi do agree with amy.. some people takes it in a wrong way … they feel that I m denying them by not talking to them .. & there are some stages when we cant really talk & cant even hide in invisble mode… coz they know the way to find out who is invisible.. so in this case IDLE icon is of great help

MemberIn way don’t you think it’s sad that we have to go to these measures because people cannot respect a person’s privacy? I mean, this is just my observation, you would think if people are your friends, they would understand there are just times when you can’t chat. Oh well, maybe someone can find a way around it….there has to be a way. 🙂

Memberno offence to Andy or his YEmote which does work well I havent checked the fake idle to see if it works for Yahoo 6 but I wont use it.. simply why download a bulky program when all you wants is the fake idle, I haves a simple small vb script for 5.6 yahoo messenger which is 700 bytes as a posed to a few megs to andys file.. nah ill wait till someone figures out how to do the 6.0 version cause it certainly aint number 1 2 or 3 for registry

MemberOrea – Ofcourse this is sad that we have to do such things. But if we want to keep our relationship going on then we have to do it as relationship is never one sided
travellerscross – No Vbscript is needed to fake an IDLE blue icon in 5.6 you just have to make a small changes in you registry setting from 0 to 2.I’ve found out ways to get other icon like a fake webcam icon etc in 6.0 but that is by having a specific status messege so this obviously has nothing to do in the registry changes so I guess there has to be some changes in a status messege like if u specify a link of a website(say http://www.yahoo.com) in a status messege u get a new icon on your status.

MemberHeartless even I knows about registry and changing it., and the reason why I mentioned the vb script is because in all honesty id rather have someone whos computer naive use that than touch registry at all and screwing it up. and so would many others. registry is not the best play to accidently make a mistake and go oops

Membernjbillt, or anyone, you guys might be interested in this program of chef bambang’s called YM Status Rotator v0.0.2…i highly recommend this, you can even edit your own custom status.:D
It’s a small utility program that rotates your Yahoo Messenger status text periodically.

This application can only set status message text on primary YM id. It will not work on secondary YM id or Aliases. Displays only 48 character per line in YM ver < 6 and up to 255 char in YM ver 6.i’ll post the link if it’s allowed…http://www.geocities.com/chef_bambang/

MemberHavent checked that one out but there does need to be a point to be made and it’s simply this there are plenty of programs claiming to do Idle and the fact is having the word Idle doesnt cut it.. then there are programs thats offering the blue icon and going into Fake idle.. althought that may work for some it still doesn’t cut it and its simply this, On the old version of 5.6 when you went into fake idle mode not only did you have the word idle and the idle icon appear.. you had the most ESSENTIAL thing needed for this and it was the Timer, the timer to say how long you have been in idle for. As much as yahoo is prone to problems the Idle mode is usually one of the things on yahoo thats not prone to faults.. the Time of how long you have been idle with the idle emote Always appears.. if you don’t have all 3 then simply it’s not worth the time or trouble. you will get sussed out even by the most naive users unless all 3 works.. till then its a wait to find one that does all that.
August 18, 2004 at 6:27 pm #74463amy_d_g
ParticipantThere is an option in preferences for ‘Do not show anyone how long I’ve been idle’, so if this is checked, there would be no timer. This would take care of that problem right?
