I know this has been asked before, but it has never really been answered. There are several screennames on my buddylist that appear offline even though those people are really online. These people did not block me, and there isn’t a privacy setting that is causing this. It simply has them as being offline.
This happened to me the first time a while back, but then I got a new screenname and there didn’t seem to be any problems with the new one. However, now several people are not appearing as on, even though they did before, one of them just becoming like this 2 days ago.
I did try reinstalling AIM, and re-adding the screennames but that didn’t work. If you have any idea about what is causing this and/or how I could fix this, please post!
I am running AIM 5.2.3292 with AIMutation (removing this did nothing)
They are probably ghosting themselves using AIM 5.5; you can appear offline to everyone but in actuality you are online.
Maybe I didn’t clarify. They are actually online, and they appear so to everyone else, and to my other screennames.
are they on your buddylist? cause if they have deadaim they have the power to take themselves of fyour buddylist
They are on my buddylist, but always in the offline section. I can’t view the profiles. When I try, I get “Buddy Info for _ is not available.”
And you are sure that they do not have ‘Allow only users on my list to talk to me”, and that you ARE on their list. Can they see you online?
One of my friends said he had this problem only, sometimes I would apear off when i’m on and sometimes I wouldn’t…weird
I’m having the same problem listed above … this happened a few days ago …. A buddy appears as offline to me — and I appear offline to them — neither one of us has blocked each other and we are on each others buddy list. I don’t think this is a firewall thing since I can see other people I work with who are on the same system and they can see me — this is really bugging me — I am not a “computer” person and I really don’t understand much about them — I found this site and everyone seems to be very knowledgable about the IM world. I uninstalled AIM and then reinstalled and still nothing. Please help!
I have a bot on my buddylist, I’m sure many others may have it MessageServer, it leaves an IM for someone and they will get it when they come online….ANYWAY…This bot is online 24/7, however it always appears offline to me. When I questioned why, the answer I got was that a screenname can only appear on “X” amount of ppl’s buddylists (For example, MessageServer may only appear on say 200 ppl’s buddylist, the 1st 200 to sign on that day) This could possibly b your answer, but I can’t really tell ya for sure.
I am having the same problem. My buddy is shown on my list as not online. He is online and so am I — we confirmed this on the telephone. Neither one of us can “see” each other online. We’ve gone through the “privacy” screens to see if we’ve inadvertently blocked each other. That isn’t happening. Also tried reloading the screen name for my buddy by removing his name, logging off Aim, then rebooting, logging in and adding his name back. This also doesn’t work. Neither one of us is “invisible” either.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME RESOLVE THIS ISSUE???
