So I upgraded to 5.2.3277. Prior to this, I was using 5.1.something. In 5.1.XXX, my buddies and I were able to send files to each other when we had our away messages up, as long as the “accept files from buddies on buddy list” was checked in the File Transfer section under preferences. However, with the new version of AIM (5.2.3277), I cannot send files to buddies who are away anymore, if they are using the new version. If I’m sending a file to a buddy who is using the old version, and he is away, it WILL work, but he cannot send a file back to me if I am away.
To get around this, I have made a cloned name in AIM which I’m going to leave as ‘available’ 100% of the time, so my friends can send stuff to me when I’m away. Other than this, does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this stupid issue.
I don’t know why the hell AIM went and changed this feature in the new release. It was fine the way it was.

Though I appreciate the help, I’m trying to find a workaround for the current version of AIM. I don’t want to revert to using one of the older versions. I like the new feature of being able to text message ur buddies’ cell phones.

Believe it or not, I can send to my friends who are ‘away’ and using the old version, but they can’t send back to me. Nor can I send to anyone who is ‘away’ using the new version of AIM, and they can’t send back to me as well. So the only way it appears to work anymore is Old AIM to Old AIM or New AIM to Old AIM.
