MemberI hav a problem using msn messenger at my local area network, that clients are unable to send files from there msn mess. to outside of local area network. msn return an error like ” could not send …. network admin. /isp blocked …”, i am using windows 2000 server with MS ISA server installed, and i hav checked all docs. related to this flaw but to no avail every thing seems to be fine but to no avail.
Server : windows 2000 server
MS ISA Server
Internet : Dialup via modem

MemberI’m over a network and behind a firewall and i have the exact same problem…i can receieve files but i cant send them…i’ve just learnt to live with it now!!!

KeymasterUsually this is due to one or more ports blocked at your firewall (which your company controls). It might be blocked at the ISP level, in which case your only recourse is to work with them to try to open the necessary ports.
The subject of ports was discussed in this topic. Read through it and see if it helps.

MemberI also have a network at home and can’t files over MSN Messenger not even on the host computer and it’s not either my isp or their firewall it started happening when I installed Internet Connection Sharing to my LAN, before that I coulded send files with no problems. I have no firewall and nothing that could be blocking any porst for outcoming data I reinstalled windows 98 installed my lan with ICS and same problem can anyone help me.

Membersorry bud i couldnt be more specific! well u could go to search and chosse the drop down menu to show msn messenger and serach for msn messenger in firewall…. u will get many topics and all of them hav unique information in some way or another.

MemberThis terapod thing is stupid the other party have to have it installed too it’s like putting a trojan on this pc yeah good idea naw I need to fix my MSN or the windows port damn thing etc.. anyone knows? by the way the only thing I’m using is a cat5 cross-over cable with nothing else not a router or firewall installed nothing, so there must be only a flaw on configuration or msn is not ready yet for my LAN? anyway some body there to help me…?
SO PEOPLE is not neccessarily your router firewall blackice or other external thing I know it must be the internet connection sharing I got problems with DC too that can’t find search because of some UDP packets so I need to specify my IP and it works but I’m in passive mode so damn it.
