MemberDo you think that we should add a forum section for people asking for and posting downloads?
– If you can please post your reasons for your vote…

MemberI think download section would, provided the files are not loaded on to BBB server… and I think if they are not loaded on to servers then its no use keeping a section as you can easily find files on the net using http://www.google.com or any other search engine.
Also, if anyone wants to share some files then they can upload them on to their websites (geocities, brinkster, etc) and provide links to other members…September 21, 2003 at 2:20 pm #55418rustedtight
MemberWhen they are requested links are provided to files or applications, there is no point in holding files on the local server. There is also no point in a forum just for file requests. A request for files is best made in the particular related forums so that other interested members may benefit from the replies.

MemberNope, not going to happen, Jeff has been trying to cut way down on the bandwidth, it slows BBB. That is why active users is no longer, it was deleted because so many people were viewing this page that it caused a great strain on the server. The only way this would happen would be if somone donated a domain name, or something like that just for the downloads.

I dont mean a forum JUST for file reuqests. I mean one for people posting new programs, their own personal ones, and for people to ask for things. but like shawslayer said, it would probably be to much of a strain on the server.

KeymasterActually, I agree with the concept of a file download area, but not as a forum. I’d rather have a directory of IM programs and add-ons, with the ability for members to rate them and comment on them. Is this what you were talking about?

ParticipantIf this is so, I’d say yes. It would also help, when say bigbrother decides to block out sites, the ball can back up ones in need.
Its a good idea. If you can handle it, go for it.September 22, 2003 at 4:48 am #55420Someguy03

I ment that or a forum. Either one is good. But the problem is file catagories. What kind of files will be listed for download there?
Addons?
Smaller Programs made by users that dont have sites?
Messengers?
Buddy icons?
Mods?
Skins/expressions?
Old versions? -
