MemberI recently got a new screename for AIM, and for some reason I can only see the smiley’s sent to me in plain text. Even when I send them myself without clicking in the smiley box, it doesnt get converted into the colorful smiley.
I realized that some of the smileys I cannot see are from aol accounts, like for instance the baseball, animated, etc.
I know it is a minor problem but I cannot seem to fix it.
help pleaseApril 13, 2006 at 10:25 am #130011Whatshername1972

MemberThats maybe because your settings disabled graphical smileys, You can fix it by going into the AIM Prefences and going to Im/Chat and make sure the box where it says “Disable graphical smileys” is not checked

MemberThis is a problem with your comptuer caching the smileys from the AIM server, really nothing you can do.

ParticipantI really have a hard time believing there’s “nothing you can really do”… I’ve had this problem for about a week or so now and all that I seem to find from people when I research the problem is “there’s no way to fix it”
However, other screen names on my computer are caching smilies fine. Ugh.
It doesn’t make sense.
