MemberHe did not say the person said they were from yahoo!. What I would do woow1 is inform Yahoo! be using the “report abuse” button. It does not always help; but it at least you can feel like you tried. Everything else you are doing is spot on. You have a difficult password and you change it. Unless this person has you trojaned I would not worry. Scan your PC for viruses and trojans and make sure you do not connect from an Internet Cafe’ because it is more difficult to make sure that PC is clear of spy programs. If this person tries to scare you by saying s/he has you IP, there is not a whole lot that can be done with it. It is most likely just some little squirt trying to feel cool by threatening you. Let us know if you need more help. But you seem very informed already so do not worry too much. 🙂

ParticipantI wouldn’t be concerned about script kiddies on Yahoo. Most of them are teenagers, who believe their abilities out rule anyone else’s. Quite humorous actually.
Anyway, if he threatened to lock your ID, he probably can. That doesn’t mean it can’t be unlocked, by you that is, in a matter of 10 seconds.
If he DOES, simply just log into yahoo.com, and it actually unlocks your account. To prevent him from booting you, because he’ll probably be pissed that you now know how to unlock yourself, simply ignore any instant messages from anyone that isn’t on your allow list (available via Yahoo preferences). Or, use a third party chat programs like YaZak (my personal favorite) or Trillian Pro 😀

ParticipantThat threat was most likely a fraud, unless it’s an official from Yahoo.com. What you can do is, scan your pc for keyloggers and spyware programs and delete those so that you won’t get trojans. You could also report that user, although it doesn’t help a lot. And it’s also a good thing that you keep changing your password every month..

MemberFirst: Report all threats to yahoo abuse by going to http://abuse.yahoo.com
Second: If your account is locked, you have a few options.
option#1: try to unlock the account yourself. Go to http://login.korea.yahoo.com and log in your account. If you get to a page to copy the info over the servers go ahead and click on copy. Then try logging in chat again. You can also go to lost/forgot password. Make sure your alternate email is set and verified in the account information page first. Go to http://login.yahoo.com and click on Lost/Forgot password. Put in the appriate account information. You can either have the account displayed on screen or emailed to you. By doing this, usually Yahoo! unlocks your account. General account lockers try to log your name in multiple times on the same server or many servers to make it appear to be as though a hacker is after your account. This causes yahoo to lock it in order to prevent further attempts. By verifying your account information and changing the password that way, you are showing Yahoo! that you are in fact the real owner and generally it unlocks the account. There are other ways of unlocking it on your own, but those require some sort of reimbursement for that knowledge. If you just read all of that and don’t understand a damn word I said… you can go to http://login.yahoo.com/config/login?&.done=http%3A%2F%2Fadd2%2Edir%2Escd%2Eyahoo%2Ecom%2Ffast%2Fhelp%2Fus%2Fchat%2Fcgi_feedback and send in a request for your account to be unlocked. Make sure you put the subject line as Other or they may just send you an automated response. If you would like to look for the request form on your own then you can search through the pages at http://help.yahoo.com

MemberAs I understand it, “account locking” just forces you to login with a verification process (where they say type in the following characters in graphics).
They are basically just attempting to log in to your account 3 times with a bogus password. This triggers yahoo to force the verification process.
Account locking is only effective against people who have lots of bots and do not want to spend the time logging them all back in.
I would not worry about it.

MemberYou may have a chat ban PC_Account. You may have to wait a month to chat again with that account. Try changing your IP Address, see if that fixes your login.
There are programs that can lock out accounts, but just retrieve the password, to unlock it.
Have a alpha numberical password to make it hard to guess. Avoid spoofed login pages, unknown weblinks, unknown files, given from acquaintances.

I’m experiencing the same exact problem, i tried logging in with my username which i always use daily on yahoo messenger, then it gave me the “invalid password” window. So at first i was thinking my name might have been stolen, but when i logged into yahoo mail, it worked just fine. I used a different name on messenger and it did log in, but hours later, the same thing happened and i couldn’t log into messenger with it. I do NOT use yahoo chat at all, nor have i done anything to give yahoo a reason to ban me, so i’m 100% sure it is not a ban, it’s just one of the many problems yahoo is not experiencing due to all the changes. I plan to wait a few days before i try logging the id in to see if anything changes. In the end, we can only wait and see if yahoo finally gets everything working decently enough.November 18, 2005 at 6:36 pm #115096PC.KAZORUM.COM

Well after finally being able to log into my id’s again into yahoo messenger, this seems to be the case. I honestly gave them no reason to lock it, so random lockings may be occuring due to changes or something. Just hope it gets fixed soon. -
