State Attorney General Thomas F. Reilly is seeking a civil rights injunction against a North Reading High School student who allegedly used AOL Instant Messenger to threaten to rape and murder five fellow students and one mother.
This is the first time that Massachusetts state prosecutors have sought a civil rights injunction in connection with instant messaging.
In a civil rights complaint filed in Middlesex Superior Court, Reillys office asked a judge to find that the 16-year-old had violated the civil rights of the six people and to issue an injunction that could send him to prison for 10 years if he violates it.
