there will be add-ons when the programs upgrade them to work with 5.5.3572. If u wanna use tabs, downgrade your AIM to 5.2 and then use an add-on like DeadAIM (which u have to pay for) or AIMutation.
Freezer Smiles works with 5.5.3572. It has tabbed IM windows and different smiley faces… not that it matters, lol.
the only thing with this one is that there’s no hotkey for switching tabs, and the smilies only work if you use the dropdown menu, but its a decent replacement until the addons come along.
deadaim 4.1 works with the final aim release. only the tabbed ims work tho. whch is what you’re looking for.
I repaired my installation of DeadAIM after installing 5.5. The DeadAIM stuff doesn’t show up in the menu, as I suspected. How do I get the tabs at least?
LivesNaBox posted in another topic that there is a tab program here http://users.mnemonic.net/freeezer that works with 5.5. I downloaded it and added it to my aim.

maybe it only works for some people. i just know when i upgraded aim to the final release i didnt uninstall deadaim. so the tabbed IMs worked with the new version.

As far as the website goes, sometimes it works for me, and sometimes it doesnt. Maybe he needs a new server
Hey i was using freezers program awhile back and experience some sizing problem with the im window, everytime i log off of aim. It resizes it self to its default size and position when you first install aim. it wont remember the last position and size you put your im window. Does anyone else have this problem?

I just want to clarify this. When people say that Deadaim or any other addons dont work with 5.5 they dont mean that it will crash your aim or entirely stop it from running. The only thing these programs do is cause compatibility issues.
For example, Deadaim has diffrent Icons than the new AIM, and will try to overlap them. Deadaim can also make it so some icons no longer work since its covering them up, or you might see one icon mixing in with eachother, so you will have to click in a certain spot for the program to work. I also believe that the remove buddylist buttons feature in all addons doesn’t work with the newest AIM 5.5’s either.
So if you are willing to screw up the AIM interface slightly and lose some features the addons provide then you can most definently use them with 5.5.
