ParticipantThis site is so cool! it’s almost kind of scary, too. You can type in your home address or whatever address and see a bird’s eye view of your location.
BTW, here is a picture of my house (circled in red):
http://imagebay.org/users/1328/11021.bmp
(If I zoomed in anymore than that, it would show a wide, non-existant road going straight through my neighborhood. I don’t know why it’s there… You might see one too.)
EDIT: If you absolutely must link to a bmp photo due to any inexperience you may have in saving as jpeg/png/gif formats please simply link to the file. Not everyone likes to wait 10 min for a photo to load. However, if you can find it in your heart to spare the eternal waiting then please be kind and try not to use bmp. Thanks!

MemberI saw something like this before, but it was called terraserver not terrafly…they also had maps that people could purchase and see their homes. The freaky thing about them was that they were taken during the Cold War by Soviet Satellites! [:O]

ParticipantDude, word of advice for the future – lay off the .bmp.

MemberYeah, theres several sites that do satellite pictures. Usually called terra-something because Terra is the name of the satellite used to take the photos.

But I can. Stop using .BMP and grow up. .BMP is not an internet-friendly format, Use .PNG or .JPG.

Let me rephrase what I said earlier: You can stop me from posting the format on these forums, and…. that’s about it.
Hyperbyte, I think you can see almost all over the world.

MemberMaybe I’m missing something, but the sub-title of the page clearly says “Virtually *FLY* over the entire United States”. I don’t see much there that could show me my house, in the Netherlands. =)

ParticipantDude. Where’s my house?!
Indeed another US based service. Damn if I had a US-dollar for every time the services were only available in the United States… I think I need to get Olga to chop some American balls off…………..July 14, 2004 at 9:03 pm #41746Brian
MemberI’m pretty sure the site has not been updated regularly since the year of 2000 or before that.
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v290/brient/5505.jpg – the new house I just moved into last month has not been around very long and the area has seen about 80-percent of changes in populations and housings since 2000.
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v290/brient/5510.jpg – this is where I used to live before moving twenty miles away last month. Again, that site hasn’t been updated since 2000 or so, since there has been a lot of new subdivisions and big-box shopping centers along US 41/North Cobb Parkway in Acworth, Georgia.

Memberyou think thats scary? I found out theres a site for my city (omaha) that, type in your name, or address, it will give you a close up frontal picture of your house (i guess someone came around and took pics of everbodys house.) property value, how many baths, bedrooms, etc, just about EVERYTHING about your house. I did it for me and people I know….kinda freaky. its at http://www.dcassessor.org/valsearch.html
i google searched the site and something came up where they had posted there house, so ill give there’s as an example: http://www.dcassessor.org/details.asp?PARCELNB=2522080004July 14, 2004 at 9:42 pm #41747Brian
Membercamster- I believe that is a requirement in most counties/parishes and cities/towns/villages. I guess it is a way they keep everything in record and send you tax notices every year (or so) what you owe them and have uses for the real estate, bank/mortgage and insurance companies. I should know since I have a second cousin who is a county property assessor in Tennessee.

MemberDude, where’s my postcard? If I had a US Dollar for everytime a Canadian let me down……. anyways (joke)
Brian your are correct, there are sites like that for every state (US of course). You can get pictures of anyones home if you know what your county auditors website is. Just proves you really have no privacy nowadays.
