MemberI went out and saw The Grudge today and I must admit, that is one of the scariest movies I have seen in quite a while. I don’t jump during movies that often but I did jump when I watched this one. Excellent job with the dead japanese people, made me cringe when I saw them. And the beginning of the movie? Wow, I never expected that that was the way they would start it off! During the movie they flashback from different places and times so you get a whole round view of what is going on, not just starting at one time and ending at another time, there were quite a lot of different points of view and times. I recomend it. Did anyone else happen to see it yet?

MemberPersonally, I hate scary movies and will NOT pay money to see one in theaters. Actually, the last scary movei I saw at all was The Ring…But anyways, I have heard that it is very, very good. If your in to scary movies, from what I have heard, you should go see it.

MemberI heard it was pretty good. I don’t usually watch scary movies at theatres though. Maybe I’ll rent it or something.

MemberYes, I am a big scary movie fan myself, so I had to see it in theaters and it is fantastic. I wouldn’t recommend it to people who don’t like scary movies though or else you’re really not going to be a happy camper at the end!

MemberI haven’t heard yet sice SAW isn’t even supposed to be out I don’t think or at least it just came out really recently. I definetely am going to go see that one though, it looks fantastic, I mean the idea that he watches you to see you torture yourself and gives you a saw not to saw through the chain you are attached to but your leg instead? I am going to have to compare it to The Grudge and see which one I like best

MemberI’ve seen previews for Saw and it looks crazy.. Looking forward to seeing it. I hadn’t seen the Grudge yet, since I heard it was bad, but before this topic I haven’t heard anything about it… I’m probably gonna see it now since you all say its good.

ParticipantI heard that both of them are mad retarded. My brother’s girlfriend works at a theatre and they saw grudge and told everyone it was the cheesiest thing ever, and my ex and ex roomate saw it and said the same, heck, even my grandad said it was “chessier than a pizza”. The only scary part it seems is when the chick crawls down the stairs, it’s supposed to be really really creepy more than anything else, not even ‘scary’ per say.
Bah, I heard it’s crap and these people have tastes like mine, so I’ll continue to boycott it. And saw just looks dumb.ex roomate said it was one of the most hairbrained ideas ever. Bleh…fall movies are always horrid…and who the heck takes Sarah Michelle Gellar seriously?? *shudder* No thanks.

MemberI “saw” Saw a few days before it came out and I liked it, as you would notice in my review. A plot, which the Grudge did not have, is what carried the movie:

MemberI went to go see “The Grudge” yesterday on Halloween with some friends, and I must say there were some suspenseful scenes in it. It is the camera angles and the expressions of peoples faces that give it such a chilling effect. Japanese horror films aren’t like American horror films that just base themselves on killing as many people as they can and stopping it at the end. The Japanese horror films deal with emotions and morals and spirits. Thats what “The Grudge” is all about, since it is based on the Japanese original. With the plot being if you step into this house that a man killed his wife and son in, then anyone that the house touches, not “you touch the house” but the house touches[/b], will be killed. Its a deathwish. It is just scary stuff. The plot was alittle confusing though, but I think to fully understand the movie you need to know a lot about the Japanese style of horror films. I didn’t think the movie was scary, but it certainly had a shock value to it, and was worth the money.

ParticipantI went and seen it on Saturday. I honestly laughed during most of it.. but that might have been because of all the females screaming when things popped out. I mean, they even screamed when the ‘freaky ass chick’ walked passed Sarah in the old ladies room… (and the door was closed, so all you seen was the shadow)…
But I must say… I haven’t seen a movie where I actually was startled, so I enjoyed it. The plot was something I could follow, and evidently, it all made sense to me at the end – of course.
It may be cheesy… but it did its job of making me jump at times. It was worth my $7.50.

MemberThis movie was more of a comedy to me. How random is it that some guy looks at someone then jumps off of a balcony? Plus he landed in a funny position as well…you could say it was scary. It would’ve been scray if I understodd the thing. Half of it didn’t make sense. Weird things happened. I don’t know if this is weird or anything but I’m not afraid of blood…so I wasn’t afraid of the scene where the girl whose jaw was taken out was walking into that office place. It was…different. I jumped about once. My friends kept staring at me and calling me weird because I wasn’t scared…heh.

This comes from a person that thought The Ring wasn’t scary…so don’t take my judgment.
By the way this thing really cracked me up after watching the movie…we were talking about the OC and that girl that was going to Japan. Then a friend of mine said “she’s going to see the grudge”. I was laughing pretty hard…November 23, 2004 at 4:09 am #103505sciencefeeling
MemberI really thought it was scary, but I get scared easily, so that is not news. I still have the image of the kid in my head…yes, yes, I am just very aprehensive.
I didn’t think the movie was all that great though, scary yes, great nope.

MemberI let films scare me because thats what they were designed for…some people go in really close minded…maybe they have something to prove by not being scared 😉 (macho??) who knows….but I deliberately get into the feel because it’s fun…The grudge scared me a lot…I thought it was great….my girlfriend has seen Saw and said she can’t look in her cupboard anymore! lol…she hates clowns
