ParticipantSo, I use the Google Toolbar as a pop up blocker, and sometimes a quick Google search here and there.
Three days ago, Google read 99 sites blocked. Today, it reads 5478. Apparently, some sites just dont damn give up, and keep trying to send the pop up until it gets through Google’s brick wall. On average, some sites give out 500+ pop up warning’s, until Google finally fall’s and lets it through. What the hell is up with that? I can’t standing the clicking.. and I really dont think this is normal. I never had this problem before the three days ago. BTW, id did start going off like that when a friend had me click a link in MSN to a porn site.. but when I allowed pop up’s from the site.. only one actually poped up.
Any ideas?

ParticipantIf you went to a porn site you may have gotten a virus. Did you do an ad-aware and/or spy bot search and destroy clean up?

I also run the Google Toolbar, and highly recommend it. I haven’t seen anything like the 500+ pop-up warnings on average!
I agree with Dr. Kimble; it was the one-armed man. Either that or you picked up some scumware from your friend’s link.

ParticipantIt wasn’t one of those MSN prank sites, as this site is listed in Google itself. (yes… as a porn site) Yes I did run a ad/spyware search as I do everyday. All it found was porn tracking cookies.
It still does it. Also, I’ve run a up-to-date virus scan as well, and everything is clear…. WTF??

Assuming you run Ad-Aware, do you also have the latest version of the reference file for it? If not, get it from http://www.lavasoft.de

MemberI don’t use any pop-up blockers. Maybe because I only visit good sites like BigBlueBall.com that don’t have pop-ups…..haha

ParticipantI can’t believe no one has mentioned the Mozilla suite or Firebird.
Mozilla Firebird is my browser of choice. It has built in popup blocking, tabbed windows, and more.

ParticipantI find IE to me the fastest browser for all things. Content, and images. I have both Opera, and Firebird, and neither are up to par to IE IMO. I had malware that I had removed, and from now on I will update the proggys weekly.
