MemberMaybe I’m the only one. Or maybe I really am a trill-a-holic but more and more I’m discovering the true power behind Trillian. 1.0 Or 2.0 either way!
I was playing around in the advanced Events. When I first saw this, it looked like a bunch of Greek and Hebrew coding, but now….it’s far more then that. It’s serious trill power.
Did you know I could create an even that will automatically send an instant message to my girl friend (if I had one) every hour on the hour telling her that I’m thinking of her and love her and all that sappy crap? And she would even think it’s me and have no idea Trillian is doing it atomically. Nice trick huh?
On the same note, I can Trillian remind me every third Tuesday to take my medications…Oh there it is by George……LOL
I can have a different sound for different buddies that sign on. Or have it automatically launch a particular game when I press a hotkey or when a certain buddy signs on. There is really a lot you can do with this buggar!!!
Have you ever heard of buddy pouncing? You can do that too. So why am I ranting about this. Well, for one reason is because I see a truck load of people asking for this feature and that feature and as Seinfeld would say…yadda yadda yadda… Well these people who never venture further then their username and password (and probably never should) don’t realize that that feature is already there, all they have to do is set it up.
Not event related… Word matching… Very nice. I hate it when I type freind instead of friend. Okay word matching can fix that. Or when I say in a chat room or IM /eg then it will display *(Evil GrinZ)* or /t will display (That’s what dragons love best). Isn’t that much better than having to type all that in if I use it all the time? Sure you can plug in a spell checker plug in but for common mistakes, why eat the memory? Different strokes for different folks.
Or, how about turning windows transparent when I’m not using them. Or, using different proxy servres for each individual medium? (why is that important? Depends on what company your working for and who’s your trying to sneak around)
Just the tip of the ice burg folks.
Okay…I think I’m done ranting for now.

MemberThere are some cool events in 2.0, now that it has variables. For example you can do a nick alert thingy, a feature of many IRC clients. First set up word matching to trigger an event when you get your name e.g. I chose “Jim” on IRC only (message only, otherwise it would go off with every message I send). Next make that event a systray alert event with alert text “Nick Alert – %address%
%message%” (without the quotes) and action “Default Message Send”. Try it yourself and see what happens!Quote:quote:Originally posted by drake2kDid you know I could create an even that will automatically send an instant message to my girl friend (if I had one) every hour on the hour telling her that I’m thinking of her and love her and all that sappy crap? Sorry mate, but women seem to know everything. At least, they do when it suits them 😉
PS Please don’t use bold or a different colour for your posts

MemberGreat tip Jim, thanx. I don’t use IRC (firewall issues) but I’m sure this will help someone.
I do something similar with buddies. That’s sort of what I was refering to as buddy pouncing. I think it was GAIM that calls it buddy pouncing. And no, I don’t use GAIM on my windows machine so please no one start flaming me …LOL!!!
