Hi, whenever I am signed in on a specific screen name
the aim icon in the taskbar down by the clock
makes weird motions. It’s almost like half of an away
message…..(what it looks like when you have an away
message up)……but it keeps flashing, and then going
back to normal……This is ONLY when signed on
one specific screen name (it doesn’t do this for any other screen name) and it does this on EVERY computer…so it’s
not a computer issue. It’s something specific with the
screen name. Could someone have some kind of
hack on that screen name that plays a trick on me to
do that? I have changed my password four times in the
last week, and it still occurs…….and only for that
screen name. Any ideas on what the problem could
be?? ThanksDoes it flash the away message thing and then flash a thing that looks like a mailbox. The reason that it would do that is because you only have it set to check e-mail on that one name.
thats a good point. but wouldn’t that mean he has new messsages every time her signs on aim. and wouldnt he know if he set only one sn to mail?

It will flash every time you sign on until you check your mail and the account has 0 unread messages.
No, it’s not an email issue…I have no unread messages, and the settings in AIM aren’t set to check my email…but yes, that is similar to what it looks like….but you can tell what it’s doing isn’t right…it’s like a malfunction in AIM…but I have reinstalled SEVERAL times and it does this on every computer I sign on under and this one specific screen name only…..it’s so weird. It’s just weird symbols that look the email box and the away message box….and occasionally they will go away for 5 seconds but then they come back…it’s so weird. I’ve changed my password atleast 20 times now and have registered that screen name under a different email addresss, changed that email address’s password, and everything I can possibly think of. Any other ideas or suggestions? Thanks
Can you get a screen shot of this? (Ctrl+PrintScreen, paste into MSPaint, save as JPG/JPEG (Do not use BMP!)), then post a link to it after uploading it to a website somewhere (just google for free web hosts).

the picture isn’t great but you should be able to see what i’m talking about somewhat.
It means you have mail.
My AIM -> Edit Options -> Edit Preferences -> Mail
Now see what mailbox is set up under that SN. Delete it if you don’t want to recieve mail alerts.
Like I already said, I don’t have it set up to alert me and I have no email boxes set up in my AIM preferences. None of the boxes are checked under Mail Alert Notifications. It is a constant flashing that doesn’t seem right…it’s not normal the way it looks. Thanks for the input though, I just don’t know what it could be.
Even if you do not have accounts specified, you will still have your @Netscape.net email, maybe try to login at http://www.netscape.net and see if you have mail there?
No email at netscape.net – and even if I did have new mail there, the box to flash the alert isn’t checked, so it shouldn’t come up anyway…and I did a test to see what it looks like when it flashes the mail alert……it’s not the same as mine….mine flashes very weird, it’s not normal….it’s not the mail isssue….it has to be something else…
Just yesturday this exact (seeing from you screen shot) thing has happend to me. I know you said this has nothing to do with aim, but I figured out that this happend when I switched my default mail thing on aim from my current email account (sonict4ever@usa.com) to the netscape.net one.
Change the default mail thing to a yahoo mail account or something or that netscape.netHello. I never had this problem before, until now, and I have been using the computer and messenger since 1999. I installed a new version of windows xp original, without shell changes, not addons, not vista skins, nothing like that. And i noticed that my nickname suddenly changes itselfs…adding a letter”B” then a “P” and then weird symbols like B’P מҐдЖЉЋ. LOL in this precise moment i realized that it happens when i change my status to “AWAY” with MSG PLUS LIVE………but its strange because i formatted my pc and i didn’t installed PLUS to see if that happens anyway, and yeah, it happens without the msg plus installed however.. So what can be this “strange” and “creepy” problem? Is somebody “hacking” my msn account? Is there a troyan in my computer or messenger account? (weird because i just formatted my pc, is like new) Is it a font or software conflict? Because i have a big doubt about it is an operating system ( windows xp ) error…. somebody can help? I’m very scared and discosted
