I just started using OpenDNS because it’s a lot faster for me than going with my ISP’s.
I launched the lastest version of Messenger which is patched using Tim’s Ad Banner Removal software. Now that I’m using OpenDNS the contact list banner is back with an OpenDNS page.

Think of it like this, say you type the wrong address to a website and a little
while later you see an msn search page open asking you if you meant and it
gives you a list of sites with similar names. Usually ad banner is hidden but
OpenDNS for some reason is taking you to their search site to look up the
* that is used in combination with the patch to hide the ad banner.
So you have two options.
1. Keep using the OpenDNS and live with the ad banner.
2. Use your ISP’s DNS and have the ad banner hidden.
This is how I see it. I can’t control the DNS as far as I know.
Someone else may have better knownledge on DNS that could
help more then I can at this point. For the most part what I
understand about DNS is it converts the websites urls to IP’s.
Ok, so you got rid of the banner by modifying it to an erroneous url. I understand why the openDNS page comes up now. That’s more or less what I needed to know. Thanks
