Pingdom just published a report measuring total 2007 downtime to date for the top 20 sites on the web as ranked by Alexa. Leading the list is Yahoo with zero downtime. Google’s YouTube and Blogger.com are the worst performers, with over 4 hours of downtime each (although Google.com is very reliable).
I was a little skeptical when I saw only an hour of downtime for MySpace… but I guess this is 2007 downtime, so they’ve only got three months of stats thus far. I still think that number is lower than it should be.
I agree with Tiger, I am quite sure Myspace has had more than an hour, I think at one point I couldn’t log in for about 5 hours.
Myspace is flakier than a pie crust. There are frequent problems accessing the inbox, signing in, viewing photos, etc. I think the reason it wasn’t dinged for more downtime is the way they measured. I think they just ping the servers to see if they respond. If they don’t respond at all, it’s “down.” But a lot of times you can get to myspace, but can’t login, or you can login, but you can’t get to your inbox, etc.
Here’s a link to the official downtime report for myspace: http://uptime.pingdom.com/site/month_summary/site_name/www.myspace.com
Thank goodness BBB isn’t on the list 😀
