MemberGo on over to the official page now and grab a copy! If you’re a paying member you can download it now! If you’re not I’d say it’s well worth paying the $25 to get it.
Warning: this is BETA version software. It will be unstable. You shouldn’t use it for mission critcal stuff, and if you use it as your main install DO A BACKUP FIRST of your Pro 1.0 or 0.74 installation.
Here are some new features:
- Unicode Support and Language Packs: Setup trillian to use your language for its interface, and talk to people in any language.
- Tabbed windows: does exactly what it says on the tin.
- More media: there’s Jabber support right now, and other developers can add their own media to 2.0 so expect others to come too.
- Per-Connection Contact Lists: now your boss won’t get those pesky “kinkyloverboyjim@hotmail.com has added you…” notifications 😉
- More powerful plugin system: this might not mean much now, but you’ll reap the benefits when the community makes Trillian do ever better things.
- Other interface improvements: better skin support, funky new tooltips for your contacts, and loads of other stuff.

MemberThe plugin system n the Jabber support alone make it worth the price.:D

KeymasterI installed the Trillian Pro 2.0 beta yesterday, and looks very solid so far. One really nice feature they’ve added is a network-specific smiley/emoticon reference. When click the icon to select a smiley from the pop-up, they’re now categorized to show which are compatible with Yahoo, MSN, AIM, ICQ, etc. A trivial thing for sure, but a nice example of how they’ve improved the usability.

Memberdo not advice you to download it now because it have a lot of bugs and not all features are working
– trillian 1.0 does not understand unicode, so if you message from 2.0 to 1.0, user on 1.0 does not see your messages
– contact list from server is a very big sheet, because now we can forget about none authorization adding

Not sure how you work out the bugs if no one uses it. As stated in another sticky thread, It is not recommended for mission critical usage but for everyday life it is. As R.Blackmon trillian dev stated in her live journal, the more people the get using the 2.0 now, the more they can hammer out the details (not exact verbaige).

MemberIt is about time Trillian released an update! I think I will wait for 2.0 to be out for a month or two before downloading, though. I am happy enough with 1.0. What? I can post in Chinese??? Cool! Although I assume the recipiant will have to be using Trillian, too. Separating the emoticons is a great idea. I never know if someone actually sees them or just sees some random symbols.

MemberI think you wil update a long before your estimate Freddie as MSN are killing off the old protocols so trillian 0.74 and Trillian Pro 1.0 will both lose MSN and I can’t see them releasing a patch as they have stated they want to rewrite the free version as they have done with the pro version.
