A friend of mine gave me a webcam because he has another one that he uses. He got it from somewhere and never used it before so he doesnt know what company it is. I searched on the net and this seems to be the same one:
http://www.factorydirect.ca/catalog/product_spec.php?pcode=DP0640
It comes with a software and the drivers. So i installed them and when I press this button on the top, the software pops up and I can see that the webcam is working fine. I downloaded a few other random programs off of google to see if they detect this cam and they all do. However, MSN doesnt seem to detect it. And thats the only reason I need it, so i can use it with MSN. In the webcam settings, it only detects my TV Card. The option to change devices is greyed out, so only the TV Card seems to be detected. Any ideas?
The attached image is the camera properties.
Hey there dcman,
Have you tried MSN Messenger’s Audio & Video Setup wizard? (Tools > Audio & Video Setup)
From there you should be able to see what video capturing devices are available for video conversations.
Hi dcman, sorry it took a little while to respond. Personally I don’t know the exact solution to your problem but this thread will be bumped back to the new posts page and maybe someone will figure out a solution for you.
What I would strongly suggest though is to make a search in our forums here, there are dozens of threads with reported undetectable webcam issues 🙂
Maybe try a reinstall of messenger?
have a look at this reg key and tell me if your camera is there?
