Is there any way to turn off the annoying “DO you want to upgrade AIM” meesage that pops up everytime I reboot? I never used to get it btu not it’s always there at boot time. I don’t want to upgrade and certainly don’t want this annoying message constantly.
thx.
When that message pops up, isn’t there an option of not showing it again. I think theres a button with a caption “Never upgrade” or something like that try it.
No, there are 3 buttons, but none of them allows you to stop the message from appearing again :-/
-Upgrade Now
-Cancel
-More Info
Go to Edit Options>>Edit Prefrences>>Sign On/Off and see what your auto upgrade is, try using just beta release
yeah i thougth when it first pops up it gives you a choice and if you say you dont want it then it tells you that if you ever do want it it will be in your My Aim pull down bar. mine never asks me more than once unless i tell it to.
Go to Edit Options>>Edit Prefrences>>Sign On/Off and see what your auto upgrade is, try using just beta release
Go figure, mine only has two options:
-Final Release
-Beta and Final releases
No option for ‘just beta’
AHA! Figured how to turn the autoupgrade off in the registry, since there’s no option in the AIM preferences) at least in this/my version. All I had to do was change the ‘AutoUpgradeLater’ value in the registry to a value of ‘1’.
Here’s the key that has to be updated in case anyone else wants/needs this (based on your AIM Screenname of course):
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAmerica OnlineAOL Instant Messenger (TM)CurrentVersionUsers*YOU_AIM_SCREEN_NAMEAutoUpgrade]
“AutoUpgradeLater”=dword:00000001
