ParticipantHey Guys!!:(
In my previous post i was asking about a fake e-mail about my friend, i get some suggestions what to do
so what i did i reported yahoo as Mail Abuse, i get a reply from yahoo that this mail is not from yahoo, thanks for reporting us, in case if you get any mails from the same id please forward it to us we will investigate blah blah etc etc
then i get a 2nd e-mail from the same id, (i found it in bulk folder) before forwarding that mail to yahoo my friends ask me to check the “full Headers” to see from where you get this e-mail and what is the IP of the user
I wonder the first 4 digit of Ip address is mine:confused: with same location, my friend suggest me a linl http://www.dnsstuff.com to check out some more details of that person, i checked it, i see the location and the address of the Internet of him/her is the same of mine:mad: i was suprised and i was really confused how come it is possible?
is there a way that a person can send a fake e-mail with others Ip address? damn i dont use a Antivirus or firewall in my system for a month, i dont have any protection in my computer, so i wonder if some one can trace my Ip and send a fake e-mail with my Ip address?:crying:
Please help me guys am really upset, i donno what to do now:(

ParticipantAny e-mail address can be used to send a e-mail but you can’t use the same ip as someone else but you can use an anonnymous e-mailer that uses proxies.

MemberAs I posted in reply to your other post, the IP can not be spoofed. Now you may be infected, and sending emails to yourself. But I am not exactly sure what is in these emails that you are receiving. Without looking at the full header, and knowing your address there is no way I can tell you if it is coming from your own computer. You may be reading it wrong. Your IP address can be obtained by using the NETSTAT -N command in the command window of Windows. Unless you are behind a router then you have to pull up your router control page to get your IP address. If that number matches the number on the header then you have a problem.
Update your anti-virus program and definitions, then do a complete scan. Some links were posted earlier. An firewall is good for keeping outside attacks at bay AND blocking port to keep worms from getting out.
But my advice is still to just block that user from sending you anymore emails, if it bothers you that much.
Please do not open up anymore topics for the same problem, you should have just continued on with your last thread. It moves to the top of the list, just below the sticky’s when something new is added.

AOL uses a pool of IP’s that switch from user to user… that is why many aol users have issues with certain forums and websites. If a certain user who was currently using that ip managed to get it banned from the site, any other user who happens to use that IP to log onto the same site will not be allowed to. So technically you can use someone elses IP. 😉
