Keymaster:confused:
Hi Everyone
My girlfriend and I both use the same computer but have different msn messenger log-ons. Recently, she has been getting lots of “porn bots” (the only thread I could find here but was locked) messages about viewing this webcam and that. If we leave the house (with her connected / idling in messenger) for over an hour, we get home to find at least 5 if not 10 separate pop ups.
Obviously, this is not the kind of thing she wants to get messages about and we wondered if there was anyway to stop it happening. I have tried disabling “messenger” in the services control panel but to no avail (a tip I saw on a webpage).
Can anyone suggest anything that might help?
Thank you for your time, if you have any questions, please email me : dark_knight10@hotmail.com

MemberFirst of all we do not email, we share as much information as we can.
Just block all other users. To do that go to:
Main MSN Window > Tools > Options > Privacy >
Make sure that this is checked:
Only people on my allow list can see my online status and see me online!!!May 25, 2003 at 7:22 pm #96158Brian
MemberAre you and your girlfriend currently using Windows XP?
If so, this might is what you’re looking for: http://www.auburn.edu/oit/security/messengerService.html or go to start > run > net stop messenger.

Keymaster😀 Thank you 😀
Firstly, thank you for resolving the issue – I went to the screen as described and removed [all other users] as being allowed to contact us / see us online. I only wrote the email address for technical queries as I dont really like putting up my OS / Set up in forums … I appreciate that its all about sharing though
Thank you for the services > messenger comment as well – I did do that prior to writing here.
Once again, thank you for the help – my girlfriend is very pleased ;).

ParticipantNice to see your problem solved. For future reference – NT Platform’s Messenger Service Pop-ups have no relation to MSN Messenger. For more info, feel free to read up on this thread.
