MemberHello,
I had this memory stick for quite some time now and for the past couple days I’ve been having problems. Before, I used to plugin my stick and everything worked. I’d go to My Computer and would see SEBS_STICK and would access my documents.
Now when it plugs in, it is known as REMOVABLE DISK (F: ) (SHouldn’t it be a G?
When I try to open it, I get an error saying “The disk in drive F is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?”
I don’t want to format it as I have many important documents… HELP!!!!!
Also this happends on every single computer I try it on.
Thanks!

ParticipantThe drive letter will correspond to the USB port it’s plugged into on any given computer. It could be G: on one and F: on another. That’s of no real concern.
I read a couple of posts on other forums with a bit of conflicting information. One said it’s an indication the device has or is failing.
The other suggested if it recognizes the drive (you can see it attached with a letter F: G: whatever even if it’s listed as removeable) then do a copy of it to your hard drive, and then try reformatting it after you’ve copied your documents off.
I don’t know a whole lot about this topic, but seems trying a copy is easy enough to see if it will work.
Good luck!

ParticipantThe drive letter just has to do with how many drives you have. It’s auto-assigned, no biggie. Try going back to the original computer you put the documents on with. First idea I think of is that you used a different operating system than what you are currently trying the disk on and formatted it there to something now unreadable.

ModeratorI tend to agree with Doris that your memory stick could be failing. If it’s still under warranty, you could try to ask for a replacement. If your warranty’s over, then check the website to see whether they have any diagnostic or repair utilities (Apacer used to have some for their USB thumb drives).
The point to remember is this: USB drives/memory sticks, etc. are not infallible. They do fail.
