MemberI can see someones status online at Yahoo messenger, I send him lots of message but no reply, than I mail him and get the reply that he had set me on ‘ignore’ that I why he was not receiving any messages from me.
If he had set me on ignore how can I see him online?
It happened for many days (he came online/offline many times in between) and he says that he did not even get a single messageso is there any “ignore” feature in Yahoo! Messenger, by which you appear online to other person but don’t get any messages from them ?
or is he just lying to me ?November 6, 2005 at 8:04 am #132991darkeyes912
MemberI’m sorry, but I think your friend is lying to you. This was taken from Yahoo! Messenger Help:
“When you ignore a contact, you would always appear offline to the contact. They will never be able to view your status or send you an IM. You must delete the contact from your Messenger List in order to ignore them.”
If he had really set you on ignore, there’s no way you could’ve seen his status.

MemberYour “someone” can’t see you. You can see that person, that is how IGNORE works. They have blocked your email.
If you were to put me on ignore, you wouldn’t be able to see me, but if you were on my list, I would see your status message. But would be unable to contact you.

MemberI am a bit confused here  aren’t darkeyes912 and stupidisasstupiddoes talking in two different directions ?
If yes, than who is correct 🙁 ???

MemberWell, I’ve never ignored anyone before, so I suppose I could be wrong…
But, as I said before, if you go online to Yahoo! Messenger Help, it specifically states that anyone you ignore will not be able to see your status. You can check it out here if you’d like to see for yourself.

ParticipantIf he had you on ignore, then you would NOT be able to see his status, and he would not receive any messages from you. Is there a possibility that he is lying about not receiving the messages, that he really did get them and chose not to reply?

MemberYes there is such possibility! that he was lying

MemberThere is the possibility that they have IGNORE ANYBODY NOT ON FRIENDS LIST. So that if you are not on the list to begin with they will not get any of your messages.
I personally find it easier to just put somebody on ignore than to lie about the whole thing.

Still, If he have this IGNORE ANYBODY NOT ON FRIENDS LIST option enabled than he should appear offline to me.

MemberExactly, it sounds to me like this person is playing with you. If this person “ignored” you supposedly on IM…why not on mail? AND, why bother to write you back and be like “Oh, I have you on ignore” It sounds to me like some one playing a stupid, mean game. That’s just my opinion…which can be taken or left 🙂

Memberlol . that is no person, actually to be bit more precise its my ex-gf 🙂
I did a bit of experiment and her are the results
1) If you put a single person on ignore than you will immediately start appearing offline to them
2) If you select the option, “ignore everyone not on my friends list” than you will not appear offline to the people who are not in your friends list but you will not be receive message from them i.e. if they try to send one.
and obviously you can only ignore someone after deleting them from your friends list

This can be true and false… Even if he has that on and you have him on your list, you should still be able to see him on-line UNLESS he has you on permanent invisibleor he is logging on invisible mode and so forth. In the end there is no real way to know, especially since he could easily be lying, so asking him won’t do much help. If he doesn’t want to talk to you then he could just do what he is doing then lie about it. Best thing to do would be to probably let him be and let him contact you when he wants to talk or do the same thing back when he IM’s you. It’s up to you. Hope that helps.

Memberif someone blocks you on IM does it block you from sending them yahoo email too?
November 10, 2005 at 8:54 am #132987Beyerstein
Memberif someone has you ignored, then they add you to their list, do you automatically get unignored, or do they have to unignore and then add you?
