MemberI bought a new philips pcvc820k philips web cam.It works some programs like neetmeeting bu doesn’t work on msn.I can see the driver on MSN but the adjustments are not active and can’t start the cam.
I use win98 and last version of MSN 6.02..I unsitalled the driver and MSN an reinstalled many times but couldn’t solve the problem.
Have any idea please help !!October 11, 2004 at 6:00 pm #70599MartinBradley
MemberMake sure your webcam isn’t running in any other programs when you try and run it in MSN. For the webcam to work in MSN, it cannot be in use by other programs, otherwise MSN can’t detect it.

MemberGin,
You say you’ve gone into MSN Messenger’s main window or (within a chat window) and done both of the following:
Tools > Audio/Video Tuning Wizard…
AND
Tools > Webcam Settings…Although you’ve done those you could not adjust the settings? Was the camera detected withhin MSN Messenger? Sorry if i’m repeating something already. Also, have you tried video conference in Windows Messenger? And you are positive you have the latest drivers for your webcam? Sorry for all the questions. Hopefully we can solve this problem!:)

KeymasterAccording to Philip’s webcam support page, your webcam should work properly with Windows 98. Since it works with NetMeeting, in theory it should also work with MSN Messenger. I don’t think the problem is with the webcam driver. Like fiebs101 suggested, try the a/v wizard and see if that helps.
One of my webcams works with MSN Messenger, even though I cannot adjust the settings through Messenger. The wizard should help you diagnose the issue.

MemberHi.
I had the same problem.
I detected the camara via a/v tuning wizard and also on webcam settings, but when I send a request to a contact and the accept, it tries to connect and then drops out with the message ‘MSN Msgr has encountered a problam and needs to shut down’.
I have unactivated windows messanger on my computer, could that have anything to do with it?
I’d really appreciate any further assistance you could offer.
Thanks.
