I was working on my computer, my messenger was on. I was not in any chat rooms, and I have my messenger set to “ignore all chat invitations”.
Suddenly I get a chat window from freloader21194 and am booted off messenger.
Can anyone tell me what happened.
So now I have set my messenger to ignore anyone who isn’t on my buddy list and have added freloader21194 to my iggy list. Am I safe?
Being that this person was able to send me a window, does this mean he has my ip address?
I know I have a lot of questions, but I’m just trying to figure this whole yahoo messenger thing out.
Sounds like somebody who was/is on your buddy list doesn’t like you. And no, he doesn’t have your IP address. The only way he could get it is if he established a direct connection to you, otherwise, he would just get Yahoo’s server IP. I think it was just somebody booting you.
Setting Yahoo to ignore anyone not on your buddy list is a wise move, but it may or may not stop any further booting attempts.
Thanks for your imput. It must have been someone on my list, thus, I did a real good cleaning of my buddy list. I was just surprised that the window popped up with a name “freloader21194”, as that was not and never has been on my list.
I thought you could only be booted if you were in a chat room.
As you can see, I need to invest in a “chatroom for idiots” book. LOL
You can be booted at anytime if you’re signed in. If it’s without being in a chatroom, it’s most likely somebody on your buddy list who is either playing around or just being mean.
