Does anyone know of a way to determine if a buddy is using Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger? Apologies if this has been asked before, I did do a search but couldn’t see anything.
if you go to help on your messenger it will tell you wat version of MSN you are currently using on your pc. you could also delete your windows messenger program off and just have MSN messenger installed . thats wat I did
No, I think the question meant, can you find out what version of Messenger the other contact you are chatting to is running. Have I interpreted your question correctly? If I have, as far as I know you can only ask them which version they have, I don’t think there is a tool to do so.
There are a few clues, though I dont think you can tell for sure without asking them. Someone using windows messenger does not have a display picture, custom smiles or the ability to play games. However, some people wont use these features anyway so its not really a definate way of finding out…
You’ll just have to ask them.
I agree, Red Devil, if they don’t have a display picture, chances are they have an older version. Anyway, probably no one with 6.0 or higher would choose to not show their display picture.
Oh yeah, and even if the contact doesn’t choose the choice to hide their display picture, and they’ve got 6.0 or higher, the reason why you can’t see their picture is because you don’t have them on your contact list. I don’t know why you have to do that….. but chances are you have them on your contact list anyway.
