Funny that you wonder about that. Estimated total of all Google servers is around 2 million searches per day and 2000 searches per second at peek time.
Now back on topic. 😉

my brain hurts now…. and btw why would w.p. pay money for all that bandwidth when they get nothingSeptember 29, 2004 at 6:56 am #73797RabidKitten
Participant*idle thought, wtf is project spike? reading…reading…confused look* …Right…
And who knows…for craps and giggles. *shrug* Why do some people cut themselves? Why did edward fish stick 9 inch pins in his gooch…the world may never know.
But yeah, I dont think people can grasp how many requests a popular page can get a day. My brother for example, just doesn’t get the whole idea that there are 84,070,511 people on neopets, and at the height of the day, when most of them are on at noon until 7ish in the afternoon, that yes, it is possible that so many of them are in one place at one time that they can snatch up every pice of gift away crap at the donation tree before he can even get one. He doesn’t seem to fathom that there are millions of people and while there are a lot of places to go, yeah, there can be a large number of people there at the same time that completely shoot his chances to hell. I keep trying to explain it to him, but he’s 17 and pig headed, so I just give up after a while.
What was the point of that rant again? … anyway…yes, my butt *cough*

Quote:quote:Project Spike was a dream sprouted from a forum at BigBlueBall.com. It is a service devoted to the recycling of old screen names.however i’m still none the wiser really…

MemberOK, I might as well clear up all of your questions. Ready? Listen closely, now…Project Spike is a service to where people send us their old screen names and passwords. We delete all of the data on them, like Buddy Lists and Icons, and that sort of thing. We then put the screen name up on the site, and if anyone wants it, they can have it. We encourage you, though, if you do request a screen name from us, that you also submit your old one. So, basically, we find old screen names a good home 🙂 That’s also why we have a blue AOL Guy as our logo.
EDIT: 200th Post! (And a good one, at that)
