MemberSweetheart. Can you log into messenger under a different account??? If you can, then it’s not the cookies. If not, then I’d reload messenger.

Memberheres whats up…. yahoo is preparing a MAJOR security update… it will be posted on the main messenger page later today…..
all i have been told is that it corrects a security issue and also fixes some of the random bugs…
i was told. in all caps.. and bold letter… repeatedly. to alert ALL to get this update….
i do not have a release time on the update.. just check the main messenger page ( http://messenger.yahoo.com ) later today and see if it is up……again. i do not have the time. yahoo will update the messenger page. and they told me MAJOR security flaw is fixed with it.

Membersw33t… you have a chat / messenger ban….. sorry….. i was not fully awake earlier…. my bad….
either you got the boot… or clicked the X , thus logging off messenger but the name sticks in chat…. its accidental.. you probably didn’t do anything….just don’t try to log in immediately ..and you usually can get back on in a day or so.. sometimes a few days…. don’t try to log in for a day… see if it clears the id.you can usually use the web based messenger tho…. http://messenger.yahoo.com/
and buddy list can be gotten here.. http://edit.yahoo.com/config/set_buddylistimportant note.. DO NOT try to change your pass… DO NOTHING TO THE ACCOUNT. why not change pass.. cause you cant access your account info. so you cant be sure your alt email is correct.. and if it is not… you just kill your account changing pass…
again. sorry. i totally misread it this am…..May 31, 2003 at 1:49 am #62139sw33theart2003

Ok…so here’s a new twist on a somewhat old problem. I had the new patch on this machine from DAY Yahoo! was on this machine. This past week I had the same old window “Session timed out…log in again” or something to that effect. I had been sending a message maybe a minute of so previously to someone who was offline and I was sending another one. Then last night, I was chatting with a VERY close friend of mine…so I know he was not hacking (and he can’t hack to my knowledge!)…..and he was sending an IMvironment and the second it was downloaded he crashed and then I got the logged out of session…log in again. And when we got back online…he said the same had happened to him too. Any ideas??:(

MemberThese session expired things are weird Yahoo! problems that are server side and need fixing. For some reason they think it’s about time you log in again.
For Yahoo! to stay connected, a packet is sent every X minutes to the server, to say, hey Yahoo! im still active. This stops people logging into yahoo!, their PCs crashing, and them never being disconnected. If the server goes about 45 minutes without this packet, you lose your connection. Perhaps during some activity in messenger, the server is not getting this packet? This is only reason I can think this error is happening, or maybe a corrupt packet is being sent.
Each Yahoo! packet on the YMSG servers have a 4 byte session ID which is assigned when you log in. If the wrong session ID is sent, you get disconnected too.
Nhyrvana posted some stuff above about how you must do an update to fix the problems. Please let me say why windows updates, or any updates don’t fix anything that used to work, on one day stopped.
If one day you are using program X, and the next day program X stops working, some like Nhyrvana are saying its because a new update has come available, and thats why.
So by the power of magic, program X suddenly decides, oh there is an update for me at server y.y.y.y so I should stop working? NO. An update fixes a bug or security issue, no program will stop working when an update is available, unless the vendor has code that polls a server, and if an update is available, makes you download it. To say a program stops working because there is a critical update is rather stupid.
Things don’t just stop working for no reason. The most likely reason a program stops working is because you either introduced something new to the system, or took something away. Something new might replace system files, something removed might remove a shared system file.
When a program that worked, suddenly stops working, don’t look for an update, look for what changes you made.
