Memberi used to use deadaim 3.28 with aim 5.13036 and it worked fine except i couldn’t connect to my friends so i upgraded to the newest aim and now it just keeps randomly disconnecting me and it reconnects me very quickly. It happens many times in an hour. And sometimes it disconnects but it doesn’t tell me for a while so i don’t know that no one is getting my messeges. I tried reinstalling my old deadaim and aim and it worked perfect. Then i tried uninstalling both deadaim and aim and installing the newest aim but the problem continues. id rather use the newest aim so can anyone plz help me? this problem is very annoying. btw im running windows xp with sp2 and im using a regular modem for dsl.

MemberAre you trying to use DeadAIM with the newest version of AIM cause if you are that might be the problem.

MemberYeah there has been problems with that for awhile, my friend has hte same problem, AIM 5.1 is i think hte most unstable version of AIM out there, plus you are using DSL, i use ROAD RUNNER, and there has been problems with DSL dis/reconnecting alot, if i were you i would up grade to 5.5 then keep dead aim, and if it still is happening, then its dead AIM.

Membermy advice would be upgradeing to AIM 5.5.3595 from http://www.oldversion.com and then going to http://www.AIMutation.com and downloading that and useing it instead of DeadAIM. Im about 90% sure that would take care of the problem.

Memberhey crux,
i just tried your advice and twenty minutes into it, it started happening again. 🙁
I don’t think this problem has anything to do with my dsl but im not sure. I can run the old deadaim with aim 5.1 just fine.July 14, 2005 at 6:57 am #126124Quiksilver
MemberFirst off, just try going to a newer AIM (Preferably 5.5) and run it without any addons, then see what happens.

MemberI’m pretty sure you have some kind of wireless router connecting your computer to the internet.. and if you do then that is the problem. My friend has a Linksys W54GS w/ Speedbooster and it disconnects her every 3-10 mins then signs her back on..

MemberI have T1 internet with no routers–I’m plugged straight into the wall–I’m running Windows XP, and have version 5.9 of AIM, but it’s still randomly disconnecting me and repeatedly booting me out of chatrooms without warning me, and then just as suddenly letting me back in. My roommates are having the same problems as far as being disconnected/reconnected.
Hopefully I get an answer here. The guys over at the other forum I asked about in regards to this never responded.

MemberDo any of you guys do filesharing? I often get kicked out of AIM randomly when using eMule.
And also, can everyone who is having this problem please post your operating system (and service pack), ISP, and AIM version? I am trying to analyze the information and see if I can find a pattern.

MemberI’m not doing any file-sharing when this happens.
Windows XP
Service Pack II
ISP: ApartmentHost.com
AIM version: 5.9However, I switched to 5.5 and was faced with the same problem.
