MemberIs there a utility out there that can tell you all the users who have you on their buddy lists? I’d like to know who has me listed as a buddy since AIM doesn’t require my authorization in order for someone to add me as a buddy.

MemberHello,
You can find out if a ‘specific’ person added you but you can’t find a huge list of all the aim users that have you in their buddy list. This method relies on your ability to correctly analyze data and the help of others.
Here are the steps:
1) Go To http://www.aimfights.com
The point of aimfights is that they list how many aim users have you on their buddy list and how many other buddy lists those aim users are on. People on your buddy list count towards the points of others but not to your own.
2) Find out your score
3) Find out the ‘score’ of the username you suspect has you on their list
4) Find a friend or a few with a really high ‘scores’. The higher the better. This means that they’re very popular and lots of people have them on their buddy list.
5) Ask your friend(s) to add you to their list. This will increase your ‘score’ alot.
6) Compare your higher score with: your old score, the other persons’s score. If the other persons score went up a lot (not the same amount because you lose a layer of points) then bingo!
7) Now ask your friend(s) to remove your name
8) Again compare your new score with your old one and the suspected persons old one. This is just to further confirm.
The problem with this is that scores change dramatically within a short amount of time. I’ve seen someone go from 500 to 2000 in an hour then to 1000 a few minutes later. That is why you have to get a ‘feel’ for the other person’s score, you’re own score, and the score of your friends who add you. This can take some time but if the suspected person has a very low score to to begin with it’s easier to determine. Plus, I’m not sure if aim automatically updates or if it does it within 10 minutes.
ps. i hope i’m correct on my assumption and this works as described. i’ve yet to test it out as i don’t give a flip about who has me on their buddy list

MemberThe concept of AIM fight does imply that there is some way to figure out who has you on their list (at least at any given time). It seems you may have found a way to exploit AIM Fight at least a little. I wonder if AIM has any plans in the future to allow users to know who has listed them as a buddy.
What are everyone’s thoughts on this? Do you think you should be able to know who has listed you as a buddy or do you want to keep your buddy list private?

ParticipantDoesn’t Buddy Zoo show you who is “connected” to you, meaning who has you on their list?
I mean that as an honest question. I tried to register, but the buddyzoo bot isn’t online, so I’m not sure. But looking at the sample images, it appears that it shows names and links.

ParticipantAs you saw, buddyzoo requires registration. It can only act on the information users provide it. aimfight, on the other hand, taps directly into the AIM servers, with access to no only ScreenNames which have used it, but every ScreenName on the AIM network

MemberTo tell who has you on their buddy list, you make a fake screen name that no one has on their buddy list. Then you add that screen name to your buddy list. Then you make another fake screen name that no one has on their buddy list. You add that screen name to your second screen names buddy list. Then you sign on your original screen name and your second one on at the same time and use AIM fight to see the score of the third screen name. That will tell you how many people have you on their buddy list right now. Then you check the sign on and sign off patterns, when someone signs on, check the score. If it goes up one, you know they have you on their buddy list. If not, then they don’t. If someone signs off and your score goes down, you know that person does have you on their buddy list. This will directly tell you who has you on their buddy list and who does not. Use the buddy comments to store it, put something like Y for yes and N for no (as you find out who does and who doesn’t have you on their buddy list)
