The Beta version of Windows Live Messenger 8.5 has been officially released. More info and download here.
Please note that Beta versions are usually unstable and buggy. Download and install at your own risk. The latest stable version of WLM is 8.1.0178.00.
I’m trying it atm, with the spanish version, I didn’t notice any bugs ..
Try it !
I especially love the new look !
Uhh i regret using it, it’s FULL of bugs but I’ll list them later.
Looking forward to seeing the bug list, George.
I can’t see other people via WebCam with my new MSN Live messenger… I want normal messenger back:(
Hmm…I downloaded the latest Beta version of WLM8.5 and installed it on top of my existing WLM8.1. So far, I can report that everything is running smoothly…however, I’m not using webcam or voice, so can’t report on any possible bugs there.
My above observations are just FYI. If you’re not sure, or don’t like taking risks, it’s probably best to wait until Microsoft releases the final version of WLM8.5 (which will take a few months, I’m guessing)
When “allow auto sign-in when connected to the internet” is selected — in this release unlike previous — connection always comes up with me off-line. Cannot find a way to set to always come up on-line. This is an issue for DSL connects which are sometimes drop and then reestablish themselves. This relates to Version 2008 Build 8.5.1288816
