MemberNext on Yahoo’s agenda to make Yahoo! Chat a completely worthless imitation of what it once was, they’ve shortened the word limit to about two lines. I don’t know how many of you ever used the word limit, but I relied on it because the roleplaying community in Yahoo wrote interactive stories with each other. Does anyone know if they plan on leaving the word limit this way, and if so, why? Thanks 🙂

Keymasterword limit? where did you find this out?

ParticipantYMSG and Chat2 charcter limit is 300
PM alternative is about 900.
it’s chat after all, not an online diary, you can space your sentences
You can use the likes of YahELite and use the “multiline” feature.
The old limit was 1800 YMSG/Chat2 to chat.
The new limit i would imagine is to stop the multitude of INF tags in chat packets and bots using multiple tags to bypass filters like added a colour tag between each letter to by pass network filters or using white text to also post spam in the chatscreen as messenger background is white and will not show the hidding white garbage text.Booters used multile colour block tagging to lag computers down scrolling chat and pm’s but with new limit it stops that happening a lot.
Please not the 300 character limit includes every text letter sent in the chat packet including which would be 17 chacters alone.

Why don’t they just disallow HTML, if that’s the problem?

ParticipantWhy i mentioned YahELite, it has a userbased time delay multiline you can use..
disallow html??
Messenger uses IE Control for the chatscreen, ever see IE without html?
notepad i think they would call it then..lol
all clients official and unofficial use tags for colour and attributes.
like we could would use the following..
Code:hi my name is foxy and im singlewhile the bots would do it like..
Code:hi my name is foxy and im single..however they can get a lot more elaborate, well used to befoe the limitation, why the one line spammers are about now.

I don’t see how cutting down on the word limit fixes anything. Correct me if I’m wrong, but all they did was disallow bots spamming in different colored text? Chat is still full of the same bots; what did they accomplish?

Participantif the “to person” is empty it sends to the room.
They have limited the bots from using multiple tags to escape filters
They have stopped people from being able to flood chatrooms with multiple colour blocks lagging people pc’s up.

MemberY!mLite deals with this new “yahoo problem”, CheetaChat is also supported as well, basically if you get ymlite and /update it to version ******Y!mLite Build 267.96******
You’ll find that you can send 500/600/700 chars to the chat room, while the messenger / yahelite users will see the max post allowed of 300 chars by yahoo posted from ymlite, the ymlite/cheeta users will see the full post you sent..
