hey 😀
Super webcam is peer 2 peer. Meaning on port 5101, a malicious user can log IP, in the same way as instant messages.
Firewalls are not a fail safe. You shouldn’t give yourself a false sense of security, just because you have a firewall installed. If a firewall has an exploit called a bufferoverflow or overrun. A hacker can walk straight through a firewall and take you over. This is the case with Windows XP firewall, it is very insecure and should not be used as the default Firewall, in my opinion.
If you don’t want an IP disclosed during webcam conferencing, setup firewall to block incoming TCP, on port 5101.
Firewalls can be exploited at the same time. Always make sure you are using an up to date firewall. Signatures, filters, that firewalls use are always updated by the manufacturer. If you are using a new firewall, its good to allow the program to check for updates, if this feature exsists. If not, check the vendors website, at least once a week. The same goes for any Anti-Virus software.
If you must use “Super Webcam”, its best to use proxies. Open proxy lists are available everywhere, a quick search on a search engine should give you plenty of results.
The type of proxy you require for messengers, IRC or Yahoo! Chat is “Socks5”.
I don’t advise HTTP proxies for messenger, they slow down the functionality of the buddy list, a great deal. You are best sticking with Socks5.
