ParticipantIt is far from a bot or such. I don’t understand how a website builder site would have Yahoo lock your ID over clicking it (If possible).

ParticipantWhat I find interesting is why this URL was selected to be bashed. Maybe it’s random, or maybe the Webmaster has enemies?

MemberSorry, but you all are not understanding what dew was trying to say. The web site had more to the url but he didn’t put it all up there purposily because it was my website . The point he was trying to get at was – Yahoo is trying to block the bots – so it is banning nics out of Yahoo when you paste “some” websites in a chat room. The 81x.com is just one of the sites that will get your nic banned from chat.

ParticipantSo you are creating bots to send out web sites to chat rooms? You should be banned. What you said, and what dew said is totally different. Why would you get banned for CLICKING the link? Anyway… any idiot who chooses to create bots to promote their website in chat lines should be banned.

MemberGeezzzz detn8r – NO thats not what we we’re saying. We we’re trying to help other people from getting their nics banned by letting YOU and everyone else know about a little “quirk” in Yahoo’s lastest “Let’s get rid of the Bots” function. (Which I agree with them doing) BUT – The actual link I had posted in our own PRIVATE room was a simple picture of my car from the 81x website – heck – it wasn’t even the URL to the whole page – it was just the properties URL to the pic itself – and of which, was going strictly to my friends. As soon as I posted it on the chat screen Yahell kicked me out of chat and I couldn’t log back in – NOWWW do you understand what I’m saying ? No one “clicking” the link got banned – I did – for posting it in my own private room.

Participantahh. I see the light!!!
Anyway, out of curiousity, why does Yahoo! believe that 81x is a bot resource? Why did they choose to target you. (maybe I missed it again..?)

MemberI have no idea why Yahoo picked that site. Its an open site to anyone who likes to make web pages. Our point was that Yahoo is banning people from chat for putting some URL’s in the chat rooms, not just 81x. – Sites like Norton or Mcafee and of course Yahoo sites seem too be ok, but some others it’s not. We don’t know what sites Yahoo is valuing as “ok” and which it’s not allowing. If I had of been floating from room to room posting my URL I could have understood being kicked out – but I wasn’t. It was just a simple warning to let everyone know there is a glitch with Yahoo lastest way of dealing with the bot issue.

ParticipantOK, well the latest information I have is that:
IF, you supply a chat room with a URL containing “http://” you get instantly booted from the chat room. This also includes Yahoo links, and SOME links without containing “http://”. You’re also locked out of Messenger, and unable to log in. I had the experience of this, when I pasted a Yahoo Profile URL into a chat room. Now apparently, Yahoo unlocks your account from Messenger, and chat after 6 hours. That’s unconfirmed, but it’s just from my unofficial resources. I have contacted Yahoo, and complained, and I’m awaiting a response. I will notify you all when I do.
This is a serious issue, and would probably make since if a moderator would sticky it, and or add it to the Yahoo FAQ.

ParticipantOK, well it seems that it has allowed me back sometime either during the night, or during the day because I can now log in. It is a temporary thing, but freakin annoying!!! Hopefuly there is nothing “special” for repeat offenders.

Memberhttp://www.178 is also one that, from what i’m told, when you log off, then your account is deactivated. I don’t know for sure if it temporarily locks the account or altogether deactivates it. I don’t know were my source found out about this, but yea. Along the same lines. I have never had my account locked for posting a url in a room. Then again, I really don’t do that alot in chat. Mostly in private messages if anything. I wonder why there is no .com or .net  Just another heads up. 🙂
