Yahoo! released a new security update, similar to the audio one earlier on. It issues a buffer overflow (http://www.freddys-utilities.co.uk/overflow.php) in the webcam viewing module.
It only works with 5.6 versions of Messenger, if you try with 5.5 it will prompt you to update.
This page tells you wether the update is required:
In your opinion…….is 5.6 STILLl a pain in the butt??
I don’t use it, but there hasn’t been a new build for a while now, so it’s still the same as it was a few months ago. Still get a few people in Yahoo! Chat Help rooms who have probs and are directed to an old version.
Save the 5.5 install as per the instructions on my website, then if you don’t like it, just uninstall and go back.
I have yet to have one single problem with the new version 5.6. Which seems quite odd to me as I have had problems with Yahoo Messenger since I first downloaded it.
Just today a new build was released, 5,6,0,1347.
Does the build still erase offlines immediately? And did you know that the new Norton has antivirus for IM??
Didn’t know that. I have never used a Norton product, usually cause I use what comes with the PC, which was mcaffee.
I think that offline ‘feature’ is here to stay, I don’t really know what’s new, probably just a few bugs patched maybe.
