Hello… I’m watching this forum for a time now and today i finally registered. Why did I register? Well, for the same reason as most people register on support forum… because I got a problem. That problem is Yahoo! Messenger.
It all started when I’ve downloaded the lastest build from its specific thread (716). The next thing I did, of course, was to remove the adds using the tool that tim made.
From then, I’m in a continously annoyance. The Stealth Settings are messed up, also I can’t add people to the list with the error: “Yahoo messenger took too much time to respond etc. yadda yadda”.
First i thought it was something wrong with the add remover so I downgraded to build 711… and the same thing happened. I honestly think it’s a client->server problem, and NOT a client problem.
ANY help would help me very much. Thanks in advance.
try signing in with another id and test to see if the “stealth” problem persists. i have the same problem. but just with my own id. this happened after i installed the latest version and de add remover, just like u.
The patch that I made only changes 4 bytes of data within the YahooMessenger.exe
I also give you the option to change those 4 bytes back to their
normal values .. aka to unpatch it. Other then changing the
YahooMessenger.exe everything else is done by adding registry
entries. ( Also I tried my stealth setting they are working fine
and I have used the patch to remove the ad banner )When you updated to Yahoo Messenger 8.0.0.716 did you make
sure to uninstall the current version of messenger that you had
already had on your computer ? If you didn’t it could cause
problems.It could also be a Yahoo Server problem or your own internet
connection. If its still not working you could try and do a
complete uninstall then reinstall. If you are still having problems
you are welcome to come back and post again for more help.it’s very strange, sometimes the stealth works fine, sometimes not, but only on my id… that’s the strage part… if i sign with any other id it works fine.
I have used Tims patch and use 8.0.0716
And my stealth settings work just fine.
Yahoo! are messing around today as people are having their id’s deleted for no reason.
well, i didn’t blame tim’s patch not for a second. also, I uninstalled yahoo >>the CLEAN way<<, deleting all files from Yahoo!/Messenger/ folder. Then I reinstalled it and it still doesen't work.
Offtopic: Natarau, Romania?does anybody know why the stealth has problems ONLY ON MY ID?? this is the thing i can’t understand. i’ve alsow uninstalled it, including deleting from program files. any other id work’s fine. rats did u try to sign in with another id to see how it works? please someone HELP ME!! i feel like throwing my pc out the window!
offtopic, yes romania.If you can use other usernames that work properly and its just the one username that is not working like it should then its more likely to be a problem on Yahoo side. Meaning the data is being sent to the server but for some reason the server is ignoring it. Back when I was still using YIM 7.0 from time to time it wouldn’t change my stealth settings. I would have to exit YIM, restart it, and then in would change my stealth setting properly. It could also be a problem on your end. Meaning your internet connection. Also check your YIM connection settings. Usually you would want it set to No Proxies, however if you have it set to Firewall with no proxies, or Use Proxies, then that could also might be whats causing the problem.
if no one helps me i’m gonna throw my pc out the window 🙂 what is wrong with my id??? could it be a setting… but what? why the stealth works only sometimes???
