MemberHello, for the last 3 weeks or so I have been getting regular disconnects and reconnects within a second or so if messenger is online but idle. This is disconcerting because when it happens, the message grabs “focus” from whatever I was doing at the time. What can be done, if anything, to stop this?
I am running Yahoo 8.0.0.716 with Ytunnel 2.0 build 378. I have a linksys WRT54G router/firewall. I worked with a linksys tech to setup port triggering for the port range of 5000 through 5100 which is supposed to be better for yahoo.
I would appreciate any advice you may have to keep this from happening… thanks

ParticipantHi jackpot614,
I myself have been plagued by the disconnect/reconnect
I’m on fixed wireless so perhaps it’s an wireless issue.
However it could be a few things, one of the servers on YMSG is testing idle kicking?
Or perhaps they are working on serveral YMSG servers in preparation for Chat 2.0’s removal
I have contacted yahoo! and they said they are aware of the problem/issue and that was about it.
A few other friends are having the same problem.
So you can count out your pc been to blame, this one is definately yahoo!’s fault.
best to just sit and wait for them to fix it.

MemberI should point out that Y!Tunnel 2.0 Build 378 IS NOT compatible with Yahoo! Messenger v8.0.0.716. The last version of Yahoo! that build supported was 7.5.
Try running Yahoo! without Y!Tunnel and see if you still get disconnected. 😉

ParticipantPersonally i think its a 8.1 messenger issue.
and that with ie 7.0 has mssed up my connection settings.
i went back to 8.0 and ie 6.0 and aint been disconnected yet.
Will have to look into it further.

MemberHummm. 8.1 does not disconnect for me at all. Infact, I get disconnected more with 8.0 and below.

MemberYes, I have IE7, and I still don’t get disconnected much. But I suspect compatibility with IE7 isn’t complete yet.

MemberI don’t think it’s the YM 8.1 problem. Cuz I get disc if I use any version of YM
I try to “ping” yahoo server, it’s not the connection problem and it’s happened even before IE7. The only thing I could come up is there’s some program conflicts with YM, but I don’t know which prog ^^!.November 4, 2006 at 4:31 pm #153805Carriemeawayplz
MemberI have Yahoo Messenger build 8.1.0.195, zone alarm internet security suite 6.5.737, IE 7.0 and I am wired to a linksys Wireless G Broadband router. I am constantly getting disconnected from yahoo messenger. I have searched the net for answers on this subject and found one post saying maybe its part of a booter program but all I know is no matter what id, what computer and what firewall I am constantly logged off and logged back in instantly. It is so annoying I’ve just shut it down completely.
I am considering going back to an older build but I am worried about security verses stability.
Anyone have any clue how to solve this issue?

MemberOK, here’s my take, i noted the dates on the posts above, so maybe this is new…
having massive problems with yahoo disconnects
started about a month or so ago, when on an otherwise reliable, stable, fast DSL connection, in Australia, using the aussie Yahoo!7 version 8.1. Desktop PC, XP-SP2
at certain times of the day, it seems stable, maybe disconnects once an hour, give or take, but then later, especially evenings local time, Whammo!
Disconnects as fast as every few minutes, sometimes even a few seconds, before even completing the relogin process
then, ready to travel, using a different computer, laptop, Vista OS, still on the DSL, problem continues, no aparrent let-up. travel and use wireless and the Web version, still get the droputs, always reconnecting fairly quick..
Arrive in manila, philippines, more DSL, obviously diff server, but…
laptop, and the bullshyte continues…reassemble the desktop PC and it dont let up.
Same as before, worse in the evenings. Stay out of chatrooms, mehh, maybe a fraction less, stay invisible, maybe a touch less, but overall, Bah humbug!!!
Discussions in chatrooms reveals the problem is widespread, aussie users, americans, canadians (But never those pesky damned Indians, lol)
often i notice if i am in a PM box, the text seems to stop tranferring a few moments before the dropout, and reconnecting sometimes doesnt seem to re-establish the transfer, altho the PM box stays open, only rooms and webcams drop out.
Clients drop out too, including Yahelite
I also use the Yahoo News message Boards, with a different ID, and they too, are plagued by the same problem
I have sent a message to yahoo, using their online feedback, but not even an auto-reply, they are stonewalling
and, in spite of all this, and that stupid damned Captcha nonsense, the bots keep growing…
Siggghhh…
What sayest thou, Venom?

ParticipantYahoo servers are plagued with issues lately. Since the problem persists regardless of computer, ISP or server….likely nothing to do but wait it out I’m afraid. Could be days, weeks, or months before it goes right again.
And the response or lack thereof from Yahoo in regards to your feedback – well….that’s pretty much par for the course too. I only know of one person who ever got an answer back, and that answer basically said yes we know about your particular problem, we acknowledge its a problem with Yahoo, but we don’t know why it’s happening. End of communication.
Best of luck!

MemberThese problems actually don’t appear to happen on the new AC4/SP1 servers that may eventually replace all existing servers.

Memberpatndoris, thats what i was afraid of, just ride it out…
The surf cant last forever though…
Don’t we have something like a ‘product not fit for sale’ situation, even tho its free? surely yahoo have SOME obligations to meet a certain minimum standard of service? The product is NOT delivering what it is advertising it can…
Now, in the last few days since the above post, sound/voice has become techy…
I would REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALY like it if someone can explain exactly HOW one can be so bad, (or whatever) that one is “… not authorised to join the conference” Authorised? Unauthorised? Ok, maybe it is just lazy programming, but…
