ok this is weird.
Whenever I try to send a link to something online like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COIvThlpPHY&search=street%20fighter
my friend (only one. He’s the only one that it occurs to)
The link doesn’t go though. He somes times recieves links…but 9 times out of 10 nothing works.
We’ve tested it and his YIM is the same version as mine.
Is there some weird “censoring” thing that Yahoo has set up to prevent that stuff?
I believe this is part of Yahoo!’s security measures to address somehow the “stealing of Yahoo! IDs”. I have experienced it even at private message.
I suggest your friend (since it only happens with him). check his security settings in his browser.
If your able to send the links to others, then I highly doubt it’s a yahoo issue. Otherwise it would happen to everyone.
I have noticed this as well… if you open a new IM window and send a link it doesn’t go through. What I have always done is… send them a message, have them reply, and then try and send the link. It has always worked for me. Seems you have to be in a two-way conversation with someone before you can send a link.
Acctually I’ve had it happen just sending a link in the middle of a conversation.
I’m talking like 2 hours before I send a link to my friend.
We’re gonna have to take screen shots of what our windows look like to show what happens next because this is just weirding me out andit’s really difficult to explain it.
I don’t think his security settings really matter because like I said. 9 times out of 10 it doesn’t go through, that 1 time yes links will go through. It’s a crap shoot really in some cases.
I have the same problem sometimes, even when i just try to send an email-adress. If you add a spacing to the link or split it in 2 parts it usually works. 🙂
