Yahoo Messenger Layout – Your Opinion Please

I’m trying to gather feedback about part of the contact list layout in Yahoo Messenger. Near the top there is an “identity panel” where you can set your status. Your name (email) and display picture appear there also. Is there is a need to have your name and display image there or is it unnecessary?

I’m working on a layout for an IM client. Thanks for your thoughts!

A lot of people (myself included) like to be able to see how they will appear to others (name, message/status and display pic). I think it’s needed, but I also really like the way Skype implemented this, with an expandable/collapsable section. Check it out.
