MemberHello Everyone: I just installed sp2 on my xp home edition yesterday. Now the voice messenger worked both ways before I did this install. Now I can hear my friend but he cannot hear me. I have a microphone on the monitor and also have a set of head phones, they are not on Mute. When I take the 2 part test under “Call Setup” the first test fails (which is the microphone) the second test pass’s. Does anyone know what sp2 does to this yahoo voice messenger or any idea’s on what the problem could be? I have NO spyware, have emptied temps, have plenty of ram and like I said it was working just fine before sp2!
Thanks, Tom

MemberSOLVED!!!
This is what I did>>>>This also effects (but fix’s) the sound recorder because i could not talk (record) into it, because of this fix!
First make sure you have the “mic” tab at top middle of volume control screen, if it is not there then do this>>>
Bring up volume control screen by clicking twice real fast on the left mouse button, then click on properties, scroll down and put a check mark in the empty “mic” box, now it will appear on the volume control screen.
Next to fix the mic so it works right, and people can hear you, do this>>>
Left click real fast twice on left mouse button, that brings up “volume control screen, then click on “options” at top left and on the dropdown menu put a check mark next to “advanced controls” then go back to the “mic” setting on the volume control screen and this time you will see an “advanced” tab at bottom of mic setting, click on “advanced” and you will see “advanced controls” for mic screen, then go down to the bottom left and “uncheck” the “2 agc” box. But leave the “1 20db boost” box checked.
This is why you can hear others when on your computer but they cannot hear you fix.

MemberSounds like the driver for your mic needs to be updated. Go to the website of the company that made your mic and look for one there.
