ParticipantI have Norton AntiVirus as well and i’ve gotten that while shutting down every once in a while. It’s nothing bad, it’s just Norton somehow wants to keep running even though you are shutting down your computer or restarting… So just simply let it close out on it’s own or hit End Now. I really don’t think it’s a big deal since i have no problems on my computer and Norton has always worked great for me.
Sorry i don’t have a solution to your problem, but just wanted to mention about Norton and that ccApp thing coming up.

MemberWell, I tried to download AVG before and it completely locked up my computer and I had to have a friend of mine (who came in for the summer from college) come over and fix it because it would auto-restart my computer after I just logged in! Weird. Well, I turned off my Norton so that it doesn’t affect my IMs and so far, I’ve been able to talk about a half hour on the headset as opposed to the minute, minute and a half before. I’m keeping an eye on it, but I still don’t know what’s going on with it and/or why it even started! I apprecaite all the help you all have given me, though, and I hope it’s finally get fixed, although I’m not getting my hopes up just yet.

Very wise sentiments !And hey, I guess maybe you CAN enjoy comfortable chatting now without Norton running, but DO treat that as very “temporary” unless/until you do get SOME sort of protection back in place.
(By the way, is your Task Manager window looking ok again now too?)
Let’s know how it goes. 🙂

MemberYup! Sure is. Basically I just had to double click the top of the manager (d’oh!) and it came back up. Also, I kept Norton running, but I turned off the IM protection because I don’t talk to anyone but close friends on there. I was able to talk around 45 minutes on the headset earlier, so I’m hoping that’s what needed to be done!

MemberWell, it worked for a few days and now it’s acting up again. The only thing new I can report is the fact that out of the blue…my cpu usage goes all the way up to 100% even if I don’t have even ONE program running but yahoo. I even tried this with Skype. I don’t understand why my computer just jumps up that high when I’m not doing anything.

MemberThat’s FASCINATING, Beane !!
*I*’ve noticed that exact same thing with MY YM over the past few weeks – perhaps ever since I went to the first version 8 Beta.
But it seems PERHAPS (touch wood) it hasn’t happened in the last few days, since I’ve been on the version 8 NON-Beta.Anyway, I usually noticed it suddendly shoot up to 100% midway thru a voice conf, and once there it would stay (and cause minor havoc with any other programs I might run, but not affect the voice itself much) until I exited that conference, which would drop it down to normal (maybe 20-30%) again, even when I entered a fresh conf, but then sooner or later UP it would pop again.
Then today I was on a YM “Call” with my girlfriend, when SHE noticed HER cpu was up at 100%. (Mine wasn’t.) We spent quite some time discussing/investigating this, but as yet no idea of the reason – or any solution.
So – u r surely not alone! (And … r u on the LATEST version now [8.0.0.683] ?)
I use Skype too (troublefree 😉 ) – so would be interested to talk with you sometime, and compare notes.

MemberOoooh…actually…8.0.0.682! Maybe that could be why? I’m not sure…not sure at all lol. Well, it’s good to hear that it could possibly just be yahoo…but…I’ve also had problems on Skype…although THAT could have just been a coincidence and just jammed up for other reasons.
