MemberI have been using CamGrab-2 to capture my Yahoo video chats, and it works alright. Is there anything else out there? Does anyone know where I could find a key gen for the CamGrab software? I have searched Google with no luck.
Thanks,

MemberYou should purchase software you like. Piracy of software is illegal, both in distribution and handling. Pirated software is classifed as stolen goods. So you are knowingly purcahsing(wether paying or not) stolen goods which is illegal, you are also knowingly in posession of stolen goods. And as you didn’t pay tax on the goods, it’s also tax evasion.

MemberActually- not to be nitpicking (but I am in law school) its not tax evasion- but it is illegal.

MemberMaybe not the tax (but selling stolen goods is a tax offense?), the rest is true, there are also moral and ethical reasons why it’s wrong, i.e. they are putting me out of a job before I even start.

MemberCops and robbers, my friends! Most people can spot a cop car a mile away. So what do the police do? They start driving cars with the lights on the inside of the car instead of on top and unmarked cars (even mustangs).
The challange is to stay one step ahead of the people that do this stuff. Make your programs check with a server for pirated serials is one way(like GetRight does). Be creative, be sneaky, and stay on your toes!
Even though the police have taken these measures people still speed. So why do you expect this to go away? It may suck, but it will make you better at what you do in the long run….

MemberIf you was running a big server for a company, you would use an expensive UNIX system(from sun or ibm etc…), on expensive servers, and would probably be insured for data loss. Were talking 10s of thousands of pounds for the software.
In the home we are talking 30 or 40 pound for an application, and you probably don’t have much data on your pc that is really important if lost, if so you would back it up, 2 backups, both on reliable media(optical, maybe tape), one in the same building as the computer, another in a fire proof box out of the building!
We are talking cam capture software, and a few dollars.
Pirated software is much more likely to be corrupt, or have been modified to include trojans or viruses. And in the event of data loss, you can’t claim on your own or anybody elses insurance. You also have no support and no updates. You also run the risk of a big fine, or imprisonment.

As far as support goes, you are right. But a lot of times a little research goes a long way… 😉
No updates? Who are you kidding? There is where you are wrong, my friend!

Memberhey freddy, for once i may agree u r right but the question is hpwever small or big the data is , the thing is the effort which we took in first place to get it!!! u cannot loose data!!!! even if some1 pays u some mere compensation, its not abt a s/w for cam grab but as a whole

MemberI use Hypercam….You can pretty much do anything you want with it, not just capture yahoo web cams

MemberIf you think in terms of updates and windows updates, and pirated XPs you get no security updates. Security updates uploaded to anywhere else but Microsoft are illegal.
I’ve never lost data through the fault of a program, be it free or paid. I’ve only lost data through my own mistakes, i.e. missed a file when I backed up before a format.
I use a lot of free software, because its usually as good as the pay for stuff, but free!

MemberAnother great tool for capturing cams is “camtasia” you can also capture with “luminositi softcam” this will also allow you to play your captured video back through your own cam, great for winding poeple up or pretending to be someone else 😡 both need to be purchased though.
regards
