hi guys!!! can you guys help me with my ym problem. i dont understand what is happening with my yahoo messenger. it seems that there is somebody is manipulating or using my messenger. it started 2 days ago. my ym status was changing from time to time but i was not the one doing it. and then after that my task manager becomes disablesd. is it a kind of virus or something?
i just read something about stealing a ym id… is my problem something like this?

Yes i would imagine it’s either a Virus or a trojan.

It has changed your registry settings to disable Taskmanager or regedit.

Has your Run command option gone too?

go to start then Run, is it there?

You can force these changes back with this Alternate Run

Check taskmanager for foreign exe’s and processes.

i suggest booting your pc up in safe mode and running your anti virus scan on your pc.

If you have a firewall make sure its not disabled and if it has a password function to use it so trojans can’t shut it down without it.

if you don’t have atrojan scanner you can find some on google or some below.

Hopefully you get this issue resolved.

hi dermot,

fortunately, i was able to got back my windows task manager. i read yesterday all the related topics about task manager and i got i back successfully. the only problem i still have is my yahoo messenger. my ym status still keeps on changing that there is somebody else uses my account at the same time ‘m using it. my friends told me that i keep on sending a website link to them which i didn’t do.
honestly i am not a computer expert thats why this problem is really hard for me. do you think this is really a trojan virus? i really need your help…. thanks

Yes it sounds pretty much like a trojan or virus.
Did you do a virus/trojan scan as Dermot suggested?
After you did it, a complete un- and reinstall of yahoo messenger and change of password may be necessary.
Make sure you have a firewall activiated in the future,too.

I think changing Yahoo password would be the FIRST thing I’d do, if any suspicion at all that someone else is using my ID.

hello guys,

thanks for helping me to solve my ym problem. i did what dermot said. i run a trojan scanner and then i uninstall the ym and re-install it. and then i changed my password. fortunately, it is working so far.
hope it will continue doing good.
thanks so much and hope you will help me again with my future computer problem.
