Memberthis is strange. I had a couple strange things happen to me in Trillian, namely one of my buddies being offline but when I hovered my cursor over the name at the bottom it showed online. Someone at the forum at the Trillian site there told me this is for real..you can see if someone is invisible. Any thoughts?

MemberReally? That’s cool. That would also explain why Trillian makes noises indicating a change (friend goes on or offline) when their doesn’t seem to be any sort of a change. Next time this happens, I will hover my cursor over the names to see who is invisible.

MemberYeh if you check out the status window occassionally…you may see that someone goes offline twice…this is because the first time, they appear offline, and then the second time, they fully go offline! Hence the noises you hear!

MemberI haven’t been able to test it, but if so
many people seem to notice it, I might
just add it into our new Tips & Tricks
section under mariettelarkin’s name!February 26, 2003 at 7:35 am #98159rustedtight

As this ‘feature’ has been reported here,
commented on,
confirmed by Trillian
theres no further reason to keep this thread open.February 26, 2003 at 5:11 pm #98158Jeff Hester
KeymasterThis is not for real and it has not been confirmed in the Trillian forums in either of these two topics (chattycathy of Trillian forums is mariettelarkin here at BigBlueBall):
The problem is not reproducible (at least not for me). I’m unlocking this topic until the problem is either acknowledged as a known, reproducible bug in Trillian or a solution is found.

MemberHere is a copy of a post from Catgirl posted in January regarding the invisible issue in Trillian’s forum:
Trillian doesn’t respect Yahoo’s Invisible Mode?
I use Yahoo Messenger and start up in invisible mode by default. This worked well for me until one of my friends started using Trillian. Now he sees me as online whenever I have Messenger up, even if I’m in invisible mode. This causes a lot of problems because usually I’m invisible because I don’t want to be chatting (unless someone hard-to-reach comes online). This is driving me crazy. Only the Trillian user sees me as available when I’m invisible. What can I do to enforce invisibility?
Thanks.

Memberthe best way to try this reliably is to add yourself as a contact, and appear offline….then hover the cursor over your name and see what it says….i tried this and it said i was offline!!

MemberWell I sometimes get a message that someone has logged off when they were supposedly already “Offline” because they were invisible and then actually logged off.

MemberRight click on your yahoo icon on the first contact list page (while you’re logged in)…then go to “miscellaneous”…then make sure that where it says to “save your status….”, it is ticked……you can see that it won’t always make you offline, but will save the status that you logged off as…therefore, if you want to appear offline when you load up trillian, then you need to appear offline just before you log off previously! hope that makes sense

ParticipantQuote:quote:Right click on your yahoo icon on the first contact list page (while you’re logged in)Not quite sure if you’re refering to the default skin.
Perhaps you meant Globe Button > Preferences.
Then under each Medium catergory is a section called “Misc.”. From there on you can read Phil’s post.
For reference, I’ll also add that a sign-on/off sound is made when a contact changes their SN, on mediums such as MSN and ICQ, regardless if they are actually online or just appearing offline.
