ParticipantWindaphoner said, “So let’s say I have a contact list of 25. I then later add another account to the Yahoo medium. This newly added account has 10 contacts. Those 10 new contacts will get added to the previous account just because the accounts wnt to “match” the big trillian list (which has 35 in total). The same will also go vice-versa; the other 25 will get added to the new account of 10. It’s very likely that all your accounts have been added to all your contacts lists. So much for a secret huh?”
Thankyou for the time you spent with this reply. However, my experience is at odds with your explanation.
I have five Yahoo accounts that are a part of one Trillian. All of these, including their ‘friend’ lists were created using Yahoo! 5.5. While there is some overlap, most of the ‘friends’ are unique to a particular account. When I first set up Trillian .74, I set it up with those five accounts. As I activated each account Trillian added the ‘friends’ from the account which were not already represented.
I first noticed that if a particular account was off-line, the ‘friends’ that were unique to that account would also appear off-line, whether or not they were actually off-line, suggesting that the ‘friends’ are somehow identified by Trillian as being associated with one or more accounts, but not necessarily all accounts. A ‘friend’ would not be reported as on-line unless at least one of the accounts associated with that ‘friend’ was also on-line.
This is fine and is as I expected. The problem began when I wanted to add a new ‘friend’ to one of the accounts. I tried several ways of doing this, including
disconnecting all accounts except the the one with which I wanted the ‘friend’ to be associated. Regardless of how I handled it, the request to add as a ‘friend’ went to the ‘friend’ from all of my accounts, (the off-line ones being brought on-line before the request was sent.)When I closed Trillian and brought up each of the accounts separately in a Yahoo client, each of the accounts contained the ‘friends’ that were originally listed in that account, plus the new ‘friends’ that I had added from Trillian.
The only way I have found to add a ‘friend’ without the ‘friend’ being given all of my account names is to shut down Trillian and add the ‘friend’ from a Yahoo client that is logged into the desired account and then activating Trillian which brings the new ‘friend’ into it, but associated with the correct account. This of course is extremely cumbersome. I would like to be able to accomplish this without leaving Trillian. Any help toward this end will be greatly appreciated.
