Since I work for a company with a three letter acroynm, we use Lotus Sametime. For those who don’t know what this is… its Lotus’s enterprise IM software…

I cannot tell you what a godsend it is at work… I can talk to anyone in my company, start up chat meetings and other things.
Using sametime saves my company 4 million dollars a month… Probably creates a lower phone bill…. But when sametime goes down for a day or so… I really feel it… It wasn’t until sametime went down for two days, that I really understood how much I rely on sametime to do my job.

Yep, I agree and they have even gone further and rencoded with UNICODE so now it can be easily ported to other languages which makes their audience international now…

I am real curious to see how their corporate user base is… Have companies approached Cerulean Studios wanting to buy bulk licenses? If they have, its been very hush hush…

First all, they do need to make money… cause they have to pay for their web hosting… which is not cheap… because they need a big hosting company to do it… anyone remember what happened when pro 1.0 came out… the servers crashed… this did not happen when Pro 2.0 came out… Secondly, did you not read what you are paying for. 25$ for yearly updates…. You can get Pro 2.0 now, but you cannot get any updates… this does not include patches… As for the connectivity issues, I am rather impressed they were able to fix the yahoo issue as quickly as they did… because they didn’t know what kind of changes were made on the yahoo side…what yahoo did was very difficult to circumvent… Some user took a sniffer to it and analyzed the packets… read the forums at trillian.cc to see what I mean…

I am sick of everyone bitching… they provide a free version, if you don’t want to pay for the pro version… and then people still bitch and moan… I do agree they need to work on the public relations part of it…
but there alot of things that are going on, that not many people know about… at the end of the day Cerulean Studios is a business, and they have customers to worry about… you are assuming that people like you are their only type of customer… However, just because their isn’t some press release from company x has decided to use IM company y, does not mean that their has been relationships already established…
